When to reintroduce wet food? Kitten diarrhoea!

We have two 9 week old kittens. A few days after they came to us our girl started having diarrhoea, despite being on the same wet and dry foods she was used to. (Boy has been fine throughout.) We spoke to the breeder and decided she was probably having more wet food per meal than she was used to so we cut out the wet completely to give her tummy a chance to settle. 5 days later her poops are now much better- but I don't know how long to wait before reintroducing wet food? She managed to get one chunk of wet food the other day and we certainly knew about it (!) so I'm wary!

Also, the breeder had them on purina one dry food and pets at home wet food. We intend on changing to something better quality- should I go straight for the better quality wet food for her? Seems silly to reintroduce pets at home food if it's not what we want to use in the long run. We've got sainsburys pouches to try as it's grain free and a much higher meat content.

My girls are 8 months and we got them at 8 weeks, weaned on Purina dry food, but breeder had tried wet food which had not agreed with my kitten.

We carried on with just dry food, but at around 14 weeks DDs kitten suffered a bowl blockage which had to treated with an enema under sedation. At that point we tried them both on wet food again and they were both fine.

Probably gave them half a packet each per day to begin with, now they are on 2/3 wet and 1/3 dry food.

Thank you. It does worry me that she's only having dry at the moment. I think from that point of view, the sooner we can get back to wet the better. She does drink well but I know you can never be sure it's enough.

I've given mine kitten milk occasionally just to make sure they're getting enough liquid.

I'd put her back on wet now. Just introduce it slowly and see how you go. If you get the same problem again, it might be worth trying another wet food, perhaps something which is grain free.

If one chunk of wet food gives her diarrhoea I don't think I'd be in a rush to reintroduce it.

Thank you- that's what I'm thinking soup dragon! And if she's that sensitive I don't want to go on to one wet food when I intend to change to another- I'd rather just go for the better quality food from the start I think.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't go with the original stuff if you aren't planning on using it. I'm kicking myself for buying mine a lot of Felix "as good as it looks" Kitten pouches when I don't intend keeping them on it.

You could get some chicken breasts and give them both boiled chicken along with their dry food for a bit to help her digestive system settle.

Try a small amount of good quality high meat content food ,they tend to have less additives & fillers which can irritate little tummies .
Lilys kitchen kitten is good & sold in shops but in future Zooplus Online has a good variety but I'd advise checking ingredients to make sure it's a high meat content & grain free.

It's a minefield isn't it! I feel like I've spent most of the last week researching kitten food.

I want something grain free with a decent meat content that doesn't cost the earth. (I'm aware that it won't be as cheap as felix etc and that's fine.)

Once I've sorted wet food I can start looking for a better dry food!
