Moving litter tray

We've now had the Scaredy Cats for two months and they're coming on leaps and bounds. Arthur sat on my head last night, I was so proud! Grin

Anyway, the time has come to move all their crap (literally) out of the front room where they've been based at night and into the dining room/kitchen so we can watch tv without inhaling poo fumes. My plan was to relocate litter box to new place and put a basic tray in the place of the old one for back up for a little while. If I plop them in front of newly located tray will they take it from there?

I'll have the same issue soon.

I've had to move the tray before and I think I did plonk the cats in it so they knew where it was. I didn't move it too far at a time and made sure it wasn't totally clean when I did it. I just made this method up mind you, it wasn't recommended by someone with Knowledge!

I didn't put a tray in place of the old one though.

This. They will associate the smell of the tray with that being "the" place to go hopefully.

I just did exactly this with my kitten. Put some of the old litter in the new one and plonked him in it a couple of times. He got the picture and no accidents where the old one was

OK so by the sound of it I'm making it more complicated than it needs to be? Might have to do it tomorrow as I need to change the litter completely tonight.
