Best flea treatment?

Which flea treatment do you all find most effective? I found flea larvae in my bed this morning 🤮 been using 4fleas tablets but they're obviously not working. Heading out to pets at home shortly to get some indorex and want to get a different flea treatment for my two. What do you use that actually works?!

The only over the counter one that works is Advantage.

Otherwise only vet prescribed ones - Advocate, Stronghold and Broadline seem to be the most commonly prescribed ones.

Thanks, so Advantage over Frontline then?

Bravecto or Bravecto Plus from vets job done for three months.

PodgeBod · 16/11/2018 13:31

My vet told me that Frontline doesn't work and that we should buy Advantage

Confusedcatlady1 · 16/11/2018 14:18

I use a flea treatment prescribed by the vet but don’t forget to treat your house too because your carpets, bedding etc could be infested. I’ve found that Indorex does the trick, I usually order a big tin from Amazon that covers the house and blitz the cats with their treatment then use Indorex. Try to follow the instructions carefully on the tin - I think something like hoover the carpets every day for a week (you’ll get a very clean house back 😉) .

Fipronil flea spot on.

Lonecatwithkitten · 16/11/2018 15:56

@TheQueef Fipronil/effipro etc are all frontline under another name.

itsbritneybiatches · 16/11/2018 15:57

I use the flea treatment you put in the back of their necks from Costco.

Touch wood - not had a flea in sight.

Thishatisnotmine · 16/11/2018 15:58

Second treating your home too, and Indorex is the way to go. Remember to follow the instructions for vacuuming.

TheQueef · 16/11/2018 16:04

Really Lone my vet advised fipronil (the insecticide) because the older treatments like frontline were being resisted.

MooChops89 · 16/11/2018 18:33

Thanks all - discovered that pets at home only sell Indorex online so have bought it cheaper from eBay. Also they wouldn't sell me advantage without knowing how much my cats weigh so I'll have to go back tomorrow! Have hoovered everything and boil washed the bedding as a start. Did a bit of reading up and lots of good reviews for advantage, not so many for frontline so will give it a go! The 4fleas seemed to be working but they keep coming back, the resilient little blighters! (The 4fleas, not the cats Grin)

*rogue 4 in front of that last "fleas", there's definitely more than 4 of them!!

@TheQueef Fipronil is the active in ingredient in Frontline. Fipronil has been around for nearly 30 years. The newest product around is Bravecto, even advocate/advantage has been around for nearly 20 years.

TheQueef · 17/11/2018 11:42

Bloody typical I've just spent £155 on fipronil.
My old lady does rescue missions for abandoned fleas, rolls around on her back in the field.

Thanks LcwK I will source this bravecto ready.

MargotLovedTom1 · 17/11/2018 11:42

I've just had our cat to the vet yesterday as she has flea allergy dermatitis Sad. She barely sets paw outside and I've never seen a flea on her or in the house, not even a dropping in her fur. Anyway vet administered Bravecto and said it's the only treatment he recommends. Frontline/Broadline are rubbish according to him. I'd previously used Broadline. Have also Indorexed the house.
