Tips for the first few days

Our two kittens are arriving this evening! Any tips and advice for their few days with us? I've got the litter tray set up, a choice of beds, food dishes etc. We have the same food and litter that they're used to. All in the kitchen so they can be shut in there while they settle (it's a good sized room so their food and litter tray aren't too close together.) I've read it's best to leave them to it for a while so we'll do that. Very excited but also a little nervous!

Just spend time quietly near them. I sat and read and eventually she came and sat on my shoulder and slept - very cute!

Mine totally ignored h very expensive beds I bought her and claimed my favourite armchair as her own - five months later it is still her spot!

Also once heyhave settle pd in start lifting the,pm every os often to get them used to it. My vet showed me how to massage her so she would be comfortable with touch. I though he was bonkers but it really worked.

My kitten came from a farm and was used to being able upside so made a couple of dashes for the door so just keep an eye!!

And enjoy!! And give us pictures

If they hide. Leave them too it. Let them come out I. Their own.

When I first bought my kitten home I had the tray and food bowls with quite a bit of space, but he was much happier with having them right next to each other initially. He couldn't cope making the distance, I think eating stimulates their bowls and their bladders are so small to start with he would eat and just need to go immediately.

He also made it a couple of days before he started trying to eat the catsan... changing to wood based litter stopped this and it didn't take him as long to adapt to a new litter as I thought it would.

So no pics yet?
Not sure I even believe you have squishy kittens tbh.......

They seem happy, playing and running around the kitchen. Both eating and drinking. They've both had a wee but no poo, hoping that's normal? They're going for a check at the vets this evening.

Beautiful little fluff balls!

To help them feel comfortable exploring the rest of the house, you can get a few hankies (or similar sized fabric) rub it on their chins a bit then kind of rub it around the house a bit. It will make their scent spread around the house a bit, and make the transition to enjoying the whole house even less stressful.

Thanks, I'll do that! Just been reading to check how long we should leave them just in one room, they seen confident so I think tomorrow we'll start leaving the door open.

I was so excited when my kitten ventured out of her safe room. The whole house is now hers!
