My cat has a dry only diet, does she need to be on wet food Aswell?

This is a hot topic - I feed my cat a diet of both. Dry food is quite high in calories, and the moisture in wet food is better for them.

But I do think it’s more I important to focuse on the quality of the food - high meat content with no grain, then it’s not a huge difference

If you can gradually introduce a bit of wet food into the cats diet, it would be worth the effort. But he can live a long healthy life on either

I only feed dry as recommended by our vet. Puss cat eats it all up no problem with the occasional treat of chicken if we are having it for tea. She had Félix wet kitten food when we first adopted her and had a constantly bloated stomach and very wet stinky poo. Since we switched her to James wellbeloved grain free she has had no stomach issues at all, a beautiful silky coat and (according The the vet) perfect teeth.

Same also only feed dry as this is what my vet recommended, she gets fresh fish and chicken a few times a week, I just saw a previous post about what people's cats were eating and was wondering if I should introduce some wet

My vet says that dry food is not good for cats because of its high content of phosphorus which negatively effects the kidneys. I do let my cat have a little bit of dry food but it is more of a treat for her and it is a variety that does not contain grain or sugar. She eats mainly wet food.

I think it’s quality though. One of mine eats only wet and the other mainly dry. The one on the wet is much fatter.

Went out and bought some wet food this morning and she looked at me in disgust Grin

I can't stand the smell of wet food. My sister has 2 cats who will only eat wet and her house absolutely stinks of cat food as soon as you walk in.
Added to that her cat food bill is about £50 a month (very fussy cats) and mine is £25 every 2 months!

My cat is quite picky as well when it comes to wet food. I currently give her Leonardo and she likes it. It is without grains and sugar. BTW, what I find important: her poo doesn't smell that bad when she eats Leonardo. She had the worst-smelling poo when I gave her Whiskas - never again! I had to open the windows for half an hour and that foul smell still wasn't fully gone.
