How do I encourage him out of the bedroom?

Moved house (and country) at the weekend, DCat flew with me in his Sleepypod. No issues on flight, had strokes and purrs. Let him out in my bedroom, as thought it was better to get him used to somewhere cosy first, and put his stinky blankie from Home in its usual place on the bed.

Fed him, he stuffed his face, then used the litter tray. All well and good. But then he relocated to the back of the linen cupboard and hasn’t really come out since. He came to join me on the sofa last night, and sleeps on the bed with me, but seems to retreat to the linen cupboard when I go to work (he is there when I get home and needs some coaxing out). He has made himself very comfy in his here - he has pushed out all the bedding that displeased him, and is snuggled into a flannrlette sheet.

I am still feeding him in the bedroom as he hasn’t made it into the kitchen yet.

When we moved our cat was a indoors cat and had never been out, she hid for a few days but was encouraged out with food left nearby. Try walking round with cat held in your arms so can survey new house with you near, but put back to new hidey place it's found. Our cat soon came out and goes outside lots now as well

You just have to give it time. Not much else works.

Leave him to it. He'll come out in his own time. He's had a big upheaval. I didn't se one of mine at all for 8 days when I adopted her. She was hiding under the kitchen units.

I think from the amount of fur on the chair that he rushes back to his hidey hole the minute I get in from work...

How do I encourage him out of the bedroom?

Our rescue was like this for the first couple of weeks when we brought her home. She spent most of her time under something, usually the duvet, or a throw. But then she gradually started exploring more and is now queen of the entire house. I’m sure yours will settle in fine in no time.
