Strong toys for big cat

Am looking for some new toys for the lovely Maine Coon in our lives. She's been looking a bit bored lately so it's time to switch things around a bit. She likes toys you can hide food in, but lots of them are designed for kitties with small paws, not Milady's big tiger pads.Suggestions pls?

My bengals current fave is a potato. He loves batting it around the kitchen.

Have a look at Zooplus, they have a couple of the treat balls there that are a decent size e.g. 2-3 inches across. Another alternative is to look at toys aimed at smaller dogs, again Zooplus have a few and I'm sure other places like Pets at Home will have some different ones.

Hi. Georgia!

You could try some of the ones we make for our big cats. We often buy a bunch of small hessian sacks off amazon and stick food in there. They're either knotted at the top so the cats can rip them open (great for their claws but messy!) or we tie them loosely so when the cats are playing with them they eventually come undone. They're pretty cheap and we rely on them quite a lot!

Any ideas what he's pretending the potato is? severed head?

Asbo is a good boy. No idea what it’s meant to be but there’s lots of starskey and hutch rolls & vertical takeoffs. It’s all very exciting.

Dog treat balls might suit a big cat.

I know the rules - obligatory photo of her Ladyship who thanks you for your suggestions (how do you rotate photos on MN again?)

Omg has she grown? She looks much bigger than when I met her.

Of course he is!

Ocelot she is a big gorgeous girl.

My sister has never forgiven me for not keeping Georgia, or Mushroom as she nicknamed her!

Zzz1234 · 03/11/2018 14:02

Wow she’s beautiful !

Vinorosso74 · 03/11/2018 14:07

She's beautiful and that is a lovely photo. There was a cat at CP they gave a puzzle feeder to and he had huge paws so couldn't use it-he solved the issue by tipping it over!

ocelot41 · 03/11/2018 21:55

She's a gorgeous, much loved girl Toddler, a really gentle, loving soul. Glad you helped me adopt her!

And yes, Toddler, she has grown a lot. When we had her vet checked after we adopted her, we found she was underweight by about a kilo. She was so sad after the death of her first human, I think she was grieving hard. Then she started eating a bit more and is now just about up to a normal weight.

I'd buy dog toys to be honest. They're bigger and more sturdy.

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/11/2018 11:04

My big boy is obsessed with feathers, the only ones he can't completely destroy are some swan flight feathers - seriously sturdy as a toy!

Toddlerteaplease · 05/11/2018 10:14

I'm not surprised she grieved she was so loved. But was dominated by the other cats. Glad she's come into her own! Her previous owners would be so delighted that she found you.
