Kittens not eating

Hi all,

We have two beautiful little kittens for two weeks now. They are only 10 weeks so very young but have been thriving until yesterday. We brought them out for a few hours yesterday to explore but we were with them all the time and they didn't eat/drink anything dodgy. Otherwise they are inside all the time. Since lunchtime yesterday they have both barely touched their food. We usually give them both wet food and dry food at different times if the day but they haven't eaten either. They seem tired but are still bouncing around inbetween sleeps. Does anyone have suggestions what could be causing it or what I should do? Thanks for reading!

Hope you get some ideas, I know its hard watching pets like this. Sorry im not more useful

Best to call your vet for advice.

And don't let them out again until they are fully vaccinated, neutered and ideally at least 6 months old. Small kittens are extremely fast, tiny, and can escape in seconds. There is absolutely no benefit to them from going out at this age but a huge risk of them going missing.

Thanks Smurfy and Viccat - really appreciate the replies. They seem to have picked up this evening and have eaten well and played all evening so hopefully whatever it was has passed. Thanks again!

They can’t be outside yet. They really can’t. As viccat said. Keep them in.

Thanks Wolfie, I had checked with the vet last week and she had encouraged bringing out them out for short supervised periods but we will keep them in for another while.

Glad they have picked up.

Your vets advice is extremely unusual in my experience. They are not fully vaccinated and unless you have them on a lead, (not tolerated by many cats), you cannot supervise small kittens properly.

If they get spooked they may disappear very quickly.

There really isn't any need to rush them into the great outdoors. Most cats adjust slowly and smoothly when they are older and wiser.
