My mother's cat has moved out

Elderly DM had a little dog and a cat. The dog recently died and DM is bereft. To make matters worse the cat has moved out, just as mum could do with a bit of furry love. Cat used to love the dog and is clearly missing him, she comes home twice a day for food then out again to the shed.
Mum is reluctant to force the cat to stay in, she couldn't manage a litter tray for one thing but she really misses the cat sleeping on her lap of an evening.

My friend got 2 kittens, 1 had a tragic demise and the other went a bit wild. Once she had recovered a bit she came back and settled down. Could your dm try blackmail with new tastier treats? Tuna /salmon for a few nights?
Poor cat, and sorry for your dm's loss.

A spot of tuna sounds like a great idea, although the cat does go in the house for meals. She could try tempt it in for snacks Grin

My dgm managed to domestic a semi wild cat with Primula!! Just an idea also!

If she can’t manage a litter tray could she ask for help from The Cinnamon Trust. A brilliant charity that exists to help keep elderly or unwell owners with their pets?
It’ll be firework night soon enough and the cat will need to be in when it’s dark.

A neighbour used to walk the dog so she could perhaps get help.
The cat has a cat flap so could easily go indoors if it wanted when fireworks go off.

The cat should really be shut in overnight. Especially around firework season. It may not just run in if scared.
