We have been offered a house so hopefully moving soon. We have a 10 month old cat, any tips on how to help her settle and how to move her in to the house without upsetting her.

I have posted some advice on this thread which might be of use to you.

You can also use feliway to reduce stress.

But you'll be surprised how well they settle because all your stuff will be in the new house and will smell of you.

Keep away from main action to prevent escapes. Extra treats and something in the crate with her favourite persons scent on it, feliway to help settle in new home, sign on room door not to let the cat out, pref someone caring for her while the bulk of the moving is done

I'd suggest that you consider popping Dcat into a cattery to avoid the chaos of moving. There are likely to be lots of people coming and going, doors left open, windows ajar and the risk of him escaping is quite high.

This allows you to concentrate on the business of moving and getting things straight without the risk of loosing Dcat.

Once he's in the new house much depends on his personality. Most of my cats that have moved had a quick sniff around and settled remarkably quickly. A very nervous type may need more time to settle.

I will look into the cattery, we have one that she was at in September and they are great. Thanks for all the advice, she isn't a nervous cat so hopefully she will settle in. I'm going to get all her stuff moved in when she isn't there.

Hope the move goes well. It's a stressful day all round never mind worrying that Dcat might escape. Glad you are considering a cattery.

All my cats have settled surprisingly quickly after a move, hope yours does too.
