She obsessively eats grass!!

My cat has always liked grass. But we didn't have it in the garden so it wasn't much of an issue. We moved and practically have a field of it out back now. She eats and eats it then comes INSIDE to puke it up. Every fucking day. It's driving me insane. Please HELP ME.

Hmm, my cat was the same when we first moved to a house with a garden then the novelty eventually wore off and she doesn’t do it anymore. She still has the odd nibble but doesn’t really eat as much now. She’s graduated to bringing in mice Hmm

Sorry posted too soon, maybe it’s just all new to your cat and they’ll stop doing it eventually?!

LillyBugg · 10/10/2018 16:03

Eurgh I hope so. It's so annoying she comes inside to do it. If I try to chase her out she freaks out and runs further inside just leaving the vom in a nice long trail.
She has always eaten it, even the few strands we used to have poking out of our doorstep, as soon as she had the chance she'd be out there eating it.

Usually cats and dogs eat grass to settle a poorly stomach.

Might be worth looking into her diet?

Good luck

LillyBugg · 10/10/2018 17:25

Thing is I'm sure it can't be a poorly tummy as she has always been like this. I've had her for 7 years. She can't have been unwell for 7 years!! It's just an issue now because we actually have grass.

Maybe more like indigestion than upset stomach? Does she throw up food or is it just frothy salivary sick?

Royal canin is a good dry food and encore/applaws is a great wet food Smile

LillyBugg · 10/10/2018 21:13

It's just frothy salivary sick rather than food.
Could it really be her diet makes her want to eat grass? Even though she is fine otherwise? And why throw up inside, my poor carpets!!

The fact she's doing it every day indicates she's in some kind of discomfort?

You can get kitty grass, maybe give her a 'safe spot' in the house for her to eat it and chuck it back up if needs be (somewhere easy to clean!!) so that she doesn't run over the house anxious she's going to get told off?

Or slowly change her diet?

Is she long haired? Some hairball paste might help too - worth a shot?

LillyBugg · 10/10/2018 21:33

We used to buy kitty grass at the old house and she'd be jumping on the kitchen side to get it (grown on the window sill). I suppose I could put some in the kitchen again, she actually never threw that one back up.
She isn't long haired, generally doesn't vomit, even hair balls. What is the paste you mention?

Worth a try! Grin

This one gets good reviews. It helps the gut too so maybe try that and some kitty grass and see how she gets on for a month?
