Cat has moved out

So our cat, 2 years old, has only been coming home for food and then leaving straight away. This has been going on for a couple of months, maybe more. We have finally identified where he's been spending his time, in someone's flat from another nearby road. They don't have a cat themselves so they've been opening the door for him and giving him treats. 'We'd be willing to keep him' they said. We've just brought him back but he quite clearly doesn't want to be here.Sad

Oh dear, that’s not nice. What do you think you will do?
I can’t believe they’ve encouraged him in, how cheeky!

It's wrong isn't it? I think we're going to have to write them a card asking them to stop welcoming him. Can't actually stop them though...

They've obviously taken a liking to him, but it's not on for them to encourage him. He must have a big territory Grin. I'd restrict his time out and ween him off them.

Problem is we have never restricted his time out. He can come and go as he pleases. He doesn't even have a litter tray in the house. But from that to another family encouraging him into their house (they have to open their door as the have no cat flap) and feeding him treats, I feel that's out of order.

I also think that's out of order. They know he's not homeless or starving. Ask them if they are willing to take on his vet care too.

You do have a cat flap I'm guessing? (I ask as if he can't get in when he wants to I can understand why he might try somewhere else).

I think you need to be firmer with them.

Yes we have a micro chipped catflap which he's always been happy to use.
