I’ve made a rookie error ...

New kitten arrived this week. In my concern that he might not eat as too stressed etc ( misplaced concern as it turns out as by day 2 he was already boss of the house - even my 6 year old remarked this morning that said kitten was ‘very bossy’ as he instructed DS loudly to first play and then cuddle) I gave him some cooked chicken and fish to tempt him.

Big mistake. Whilst he will deign to eat his cat food, if lightly warmed, for his supper and snack on biscuits he now demands (loudly) chicken or fish for breakfast. I thought I’d hold out this morning but after 40 minutes of yelling he won. He even picked it out of the cat food piece by piece.

He came to me on royal cabin kitten and I was hoping to change him gradually to better quality but not to cooked chicken ...

CAT's gone out so I can say your kitten is gorgeous.
CAT is a bit possessive. Should I LTB?

Ilovecrumpets · 05/10/2018 23:50

These posts have really made me laugh ( quietly of course so as not to disturb the kitty)...

What a beauty 😍

He is gorgeous!! What’s his name?

SpoonBlender · 06/10/2018 00:32

Don't pander to him! We've managed to raise five cats now, none of whom think that human food is food for cats. It's such a joy.

When I was growing up they'd be all round you at mealtimes, licking the butter, eating leftovers from plates, and on one memorable occasion our big tom managed to get the Christmas goose out of the fridge and eat pretty much an entire breast. Fat bastard. Wasn't enough left to go around for we five humans!

@TERFMcDuck - I’ve sent you a PMSmile

I have to cook a piece of fish for my cat's breakfast every morning so he doesn't get the wild shits (he has mild Manx Cat Syndrome and it's delicate on his stomach). If you cba doing it for your kitten, I'll take him off your hands. No problem - I'm cooking fish anyway. Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/10/2018 08:41

What do you give for a treat though when they eat human food?

LucheroTena · 06/10/2018 08:45

Applaws do tins of chicken (my burmese like chicken and pumpkin) and which don’t seem to upset their delicate guts. I would stick to Royal Canin, I find it’s very good for cats with delicate guts such as Siamese.

He’s beautiful op and sounds like a character. I love the traditional Siamese.

Ilovecrumpets · 06/10/2018 13:30

I’m definitely keeping him!

He’s really surprised me with how cuddly he is but also how great and tolerant with the kids he is considering he’s a kitten and they are noisy.

My Persian exotic is very sensitive. But she tolerates RC exigent aromatic.

LucheroTena · 06/10/2018 21:13

crumpet that’s great. Burmese tend to be snuggly cats who get on with others. Mine are brothers, they have made friends with all the neighbours cats and they love each other so much.

HoraceWimpIsThisYourLife · 06/10/2018 22:31

Applaws is great but only supplementary. Thrive is a better alternative as it’s real meat in a tin but is also complete food.

He is just beautiful! What’s his name?
