Does anyone want him?** We got home from holiday yesterday and he was all over us as usual, purring and rubbing his head all over us.

When we opened the front door we’d noticed a smell and thought he’d used his litter tray but it was clean. I eventually found the offending article - IN THE BEDROOM! ON MY SHOE! He has never, ever done this before so I can only assume he woke up (the cat sitter said he’d been asleep on the bed most days) and got caught short as it’s such a long way from the east wing to the west wing!

Oh and to add insult to injury he’d been sick on the rug in the living room and the mat in the bathroom (only unchewed biscuits so nothing to worry about). The cat sitter had cleared it up but unfortunately it’s stained.

**Disclaimer - this is lighthearted and I would never give him up!

Sorry, I forgot the picture!

got caught short

That's very generous thinking!

Nope, this will be a well-planned, extremely deliberate punishment for having the audacity to go on holiday. Also expect a few weeks of random cold-shouldering.

LemonRedwood · 30/09/2018 08:23

He does a good line in "innocent face" doesn't he?

Mundotothemax · 30/09/2018 08:24

Yes he’s cross with you for going away. How dare you!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/09/2018 08:28

I’m only thinking he got caught short as in 10 years of slavery, and numerous holidays in that time, he’s never done it before! Also no cold shoulder, he’s more affectionate than normal every time we come home!

Snorg says she'll swap him for Cheddar!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/09/2018 10:39

He said he's just off to pack and he'll be on his way!

Yeah... I'd buy 'caught short' if it were completely random. But in a shoe? No way.

LemonRedwood · 30/09/2018 13:05

Also no cold shoulder

Yet! It'll come when you least expect it and you'll wonder what you've done.

I've told this story before but my mum went on holiday for three weeks and I was popping in mornings and evenings to feed the cat, clean litter and have a quick cuddle. Cat was about 15 at the time, Mum had had him around 8 or 9 years. Everything went very smoothly, nothing out of sorts.

I picked Mum up from the airport and when we get home there is an overwhelming smell of cat poo. Litter tray empty, can't see anything obvious. After some searching, there it was, sitting under Mum's desk, right where her feet would go. If it hadn't smelt so awful I dread to think what a state it would've made of her slippers!

He never did it again. It was like he had tracked her flight and welcomed her home specially 😂

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/09/2018 15:07

It wasn't actually in my shoe, more on it! The shoes are now in the bin (it was canvas) so I'm wondering if DH paid him to get rid of some of my shoes!

Oh God, we're going away for 3 weeks next year...

Put him in a cattery! Then you won't be worried about what you are coming back too.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/09/2018 20:40

Noooooo! The thought of his little face as I dropped him off, it makes me cry to think about it! I can't do that to him and his cat sitter will never forgive me, she loves him and I wouldn't trust anyone else with him!

He's never done this before so I'm hoping it's a one off. He's such a clean cat that I really do believe he was caught short and it's my own fault for having a pile of shoes on the bedroom floor!

Last time I took The girls to the cattery, Snorg hopped out of her basket and went off exploring. I and the cattery staff were go SMSing her confidence. Unfortunately she was not pleased to see me when I picked her up!

serbska · 01/10/2018 09:40

That is gross. Bad kitty!

My colleague got back from a stag weekend to find his cat had done a massive shit in the middle of his bed. Sometime in the 2 hours between when the cat sitter left and he arrived home...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 01/10/2018 10:52

I read that as NOT having a pile of shoes on the bedroom floor - i.e. - to give the poor boy a choice of footwear in which to defecate.

Lynne1Cat · 01/10/2018 11:09

What a gorgeous boy, too lovely to be angry with. My Mr Cooper is about 14(?) and we've had him 7 years - he never uses a tray (there's always a clean tray out, preferring to go out - and until about 4 weeks ago, he'd never ever made a mess or puddle.

We got home from a day somewhere, and he'd shat on a pair of my husband's clean, folded-up trousers(they were on the bedroom floor). Perhaps they don't like things being untidy/not put away? haha

Touch wood, that apart from when I very first adopted Fatty. We've had no accidents!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/10/2018 18:51

I popped home at lunchtime today to find DH in the garden hosing his shoes. Harry had been sick in the garden at some point (presumably last week as it wasn't fresh) and DH had trodden in it. I didn't laugh. Really I didn't.

LemonRedwood · 01/10/2018 18:53

😂

His Highness was "caught short" this morning and weed all over DH's work bag.

We haven't even been on holiday Sad

FallingForRosie · 01/10/2018 18:59

After a weekend away we came home late in the evening, the cat sitter said one of the boys had got locked in the bedroom but he couldn't see any sign of an accident so we thought all was good.

Watched a bit of TV, relaxed for an hour or two and then decided to go to bed, pulled back the covers only to find a present.

Passive aggressive little kitty monster had covered up his shame! Seriously unimpressed Envy (not envy!)

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 01/10/2018 19:03

Last week we found our cat had done a little piddle in our bed - very unlike him.

We stripped it and changed it and got back in, only for the cat to get on and do a HUGE wee all over the duvet cover!

Took him to the vet next morning and he had cystitis. It's been a v piddly week but he finally seems on the mend Grin

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 01/10/2018 19:12

That's a lonely cat making a dirty protest, that is. Mine does the same if left overnight. He's a bastard.
