So...got cat at Cats Protection just over 3 weeks ago. 2 year old female, little bit feisty but we've generally been getting on ok. Using litter tray, being fed regularly etc.Started gradually letting her outside after 2 weeks as advised....longest she's been out is about two hours and generally comes back if husband calls her. Slightly different day today as husband was out from 11am (instead of in house all day) and she was alone until I got home at 5pm. Fed her, played with her and then let her out. she's now been gone over 4 hours, it's cold and pitch dark out there. And she is now past her supper time. She isn't coming back when called by either of us. I am panicking that she's not coming back....please tell me the wee bugger hasn't run away because her routine was disrupted today by my husband being out of the house for a few hours! Also desperately hoping she hasn't got lost or been hit by a car 😟

Hopefully she'll be back soon and will be absolutely fine. In the future though it's far safer to keep cats indoors from dusk til dawn so best not let her out in the evenings really.

Have you been out shaking a bowl of biscuits/bag of dreamies? Worth a wander up and down with a torch. Do you have a cat flap in case she comes home in the middle of the night? Good luck I'm sure she'll be back.

Been out, shook the bag of kibbles, husband went for a walk around the block but no sign. No cat flap yet as wanted to wait for her to settle. The plan has always been to keep her in at night but because hubby was out all day and she was cooped up, I let her out just before 6pm when the sun was still shining....and as she has never stayed out longer than 2 hours (and usually is back in after 45 minutes) I thought it would be fine 😕 No bloody sleep for me tonight then....I just want to know that the wee scrote is safe!

And the dirty wee stop-out is back! 5 and s half hours later!! I was preparing to have a cold night with my window open so I would hear her if she cried to get back in. ..and as I was still up and reading with the light on she came and let me know she was here. Fed and shut up for the night in the living room...feel much better now...and will try to avoid a repeat in future!

Just seen your update, hooray! Naughty cat. They like to keep us on our toes! I keep mine in at night too and sometimes they are very reluctant to come in. I always give them a few biscuits just before I go to bed (they have wet food during the day) - it definitely helps as they usually come running at the shake of the bag!
Pleased she's home safelySmile

Thanks for the support last night...I was in a terrible panic even though I knew she would more than likely come back....

She's a bit huffy tonight that she hasn't been allowed out galavanting again 🤣

I've been there myself so I understand! Mine now accept their curfew grudgingly!

PS she's lovely Smile
