Emergency trip - what to do with 7 month old

It seems like I have to go abroad for a week in December for an emergency trip. Now, I have never dealt with cat boarding and cat sitting etc because I've never had to leave Nalah for more than a working day at best.

I have a cousin who I trust and could take her to but they have a cat and no real spare room. He is a very social cat, often approaching other cats and making friends but she isn't. She's only seen a cat once for the first time since leaving her litter a few weeks ago and was a bit scared at first. Granted, he was a bit of a bigger cat. My cousin's cat going to be 1 when I have to go and she'll be a couple of months younger. They're both neutered so it's not like they'll mate at all.

Or should I leave her at boarding which wouldn't be ideal as she hates being alone. I don't want her to think she's being abandoned. We haven't got neighbours we're close with either

you could try a pet sitter like this company. they stay in your home, and so the cat won't be lonely and she will be looked after at all times.

Should I trust a pet sitter? I mean, they would have my keys etc. How has your experience been?

i haven't used that particular company, but my experiences have all been good. you could try a luxury cat hotel (yes they exist lol) or a regular cattery..

We joined Trusted Housesitters, which is slightly more expensive than some of the other petsitter agencies, and it has the advantage that it tends to attract older and more reliable sitters. It encourages sitters to provide references and then gives them a 'trusted status' based on that, so the more references, external and internal, they can provide, the higher status they get. We used them twice now, at Easter and in Summer, and it's generally worked really well. The one disadvantage is that you need to make sure the house is really tidy before you leave (well, you don't have to but it's obviously polite to do so, and encourages the sitters to leave the house in a clean state too), which can be a hassle when you're getting everything packed and ready to go. You also need to prepare a fairly detailed online 'house and pet guide' for your sitters, but that's just the first time. Trusted Housesitters has a fairly good hotline too, so I feel they do offer added value for the extra cost. You pay a single annual fee, though, so if you only want a sitter for that one week and not again, it's not such good value as for someone who goes away multiple times a year.

I'm a dog walker who also offers small pet feeding on the side. This entails coming into your home once or twice a day and spending 30 mins socialising with the cat, feeding, litter tray and any other things you wanted doing like curtains moving, post etc. Make sure you check they have insurance in case they lose your keys, you should also fill in some forms about your cat and also emergency contact details for you and for someone else in case they can't get in contact with you.
Most dog walkers offer this service and also cat feeding company's too. Check reviews on Facebook/google/yell as well. X

Id go for a pet sitter twice a day. uk.catinaflat.com/#ath put in your post code see who comes up. Book earlier rather than later. Better still, get another ypung cat then you will feel alot less guilty about leaving them. I know i did.

We always use a local pet sitting service. She visits twice a day to replace the litter tray, food and water. She grooms and plays with the cat and sends photos daily, including the cat curled up asleep on her knee. If there is an emergency she will handle visits to the vet. She came recommended by the vet.

Find a nice cattery, mine get more attention from my cattery than they get from me! I feel much more relaxed knowing they are safe. And the cattery is so posh I'd live their my self!

They aren't alone at a cattery at all! There are other cats around, and good catteries give them all plenty of attention and look after them really well.

We use a pet sitter who comes in twice a day. I know Harry is well looked after and I'm happier knowing he's at home. I looked at a cattery once but ended up in tears at the thought of leaving him!

I also have a cat sitter.
