I've got two five month old kittens. Can anyone recommend a spot on treatment for fleas and ticks, as well as a spot on/something in their food for tape and round worms.

They're on their third home through no fault of their own, and had four vets visits last month (initial checkup, injections x 2, neutering, worm and flea treatments). They've settled in really well but are nervous of visitors, so if possible I don't want to stress them out with a vets visit unless I have to.

You can buy Advantage and Drontal in Chemists, in Pets at Home and online. They are 'proper' products. Don't touch anything else that isn't from a vet with a barge pole.

If they're registered with a vet and have been seen/weighed recently you can just ask for worm and flea treatment, you don't have to take them in. They will need a recent weight for dosing though.

You don't need to take them to the vet each time for flea/ tick treatment. I just pop in and ask for it

I get Advantage and Drontal from Animed and they are really cheap.
DO NOT GET BOB MARTINS PRODUCTS AS THEY CAN KILL.

My vet wants to see them every six months in order to prescribe flea and worm treatment. I think it's a scam for them to earn money tbh. Anyone can weigh their pets at home and buy treatment online, why did the vets need to see the pets each time? Unfortunately there are some treatments you cant buy online e.g the ones that also treat ear mites. Otherwise buy Advantage from viovet or similar.

No it's the law under the medicines act 1968, the 6 month rule is not something vets just decided, some will agree to prescribe if they've seen a patient in the last 12 months but they're risking their professional standing.

In addition, your vet is still required to provide a full clinical check-up of the pet every 6 months at a minimum
