best food for sensitive kitten

Hi,

We adopted our boy a week ago. The CP league gave us 5 pouches of sensitive science plan food and advised we should use those first.

We did and his poo was normal. We've since moved him on to Felix kitten and whiskers kitten biscuits and they're not agreeing with him.

He's pooing frequently, and it's loose. Is the food too rich? Could it be stress due to rehoming?

Any recommendations of sensitive food - wet or dry? Thanks so much

Whiskas dry food is terrible, hardly any meat and lots of cereals. Have a look in somewhere like pets at home for grain free food (wet and dry). Felix may well contain cereals so I'd check that too. Did you transition gradually as quickly changing foods can cause diarrhoea too? You should do it gradually over the period of about a week.

Have you seen a vet yet for worming and flea treatments? They may also suggest a probiotic paste that can help. Think we got pro kolin when one of mine was a bit runny

He's been wormed and treated for fleas by the Cats Protection league before we adopted him so happy he's ok on that side of things.

As his tummy was fine on the Science Plan stuff we just assumed he was ok but clearly did it too fast. We have a great pet shop near by so will look for some better quality stuff.

Thanks for your advice.

Lotts of kitten food contains hardly any meat. I put mine on waitrose pouches, which are higher than felix, iirc and she is fine.

Can you not keep him on the food the cp used? If not, can you ask your vet what the closet footed is. I recently tried my kitten on applaws tuna as a treat and she has a bit of an upset tummy, back on Lily’s kitchen!!

I would take him off of the Whiskas kitten biscuits. If you can get the Royal Canin biscuits or something equally as natural you should see an improvement. Be careful of additives!

Royal canin is crap too. I think I used AVA kitten dry food from pets at home. Had 66% chicken and no grains

I've ordered some Burn's Chicken & Rice kitten. It looks to have 50% chicken and no allergens inc wheat so hoping he'll digest it better.

Also gone for some nature's kitchen pouches which look good.
