Picking up our new cat tomorrow, need advice!

We are adopting a two year old cat from a rescue and we are due to collect her tomorrow. She has recently been neutered and the wound has only just healed. They've told me that she has some diarrhoea but was seen by a vet yesterday who said it's stress related. They don't think it'll go away until she leaves the rescue and gets to settle down.
I really can't wait to get her home but I'm also concerned that what if the diarrhoea is not stress related?
What do you think? Should I not worry and trust what their vet said or should I be concerned?

My 2 year old cat came to me from a rescue with diarrhoea a few weeks ago, however the rescue didn't tell me Hmm We persevered with him thinking it was just the change in circumstance. Made sure I got the food he was used to but he carried on with loose poos 3/4 times a day. Was starting to think there was more of a problem anyway, but then I noticed blood in his poo! So rang the vet, they gave him some special recovery food and a probiotic which cleared it up but whenever I put him on normal cat food his bowels don't agree again. So he's now on royal canin sensible dry, with their digest sensitive pouches. I know their not meant to be the best foods but it's the only thing he can eat without plopping it straight out Confused I'm convinced he was already having this problem at the RSPCA but they didn't tell me..

So in answer, it might not be stress related but if the vet can't see any other cause you could see how the cat goes. But if it is something else it might be easily solved with change of diet, like my sensitive little cat Grin

Thanks for replying!
I think I'll have a chat with the rescue tomorrow when picking her up and ask a bit more questions regarding her eating habits. In a case it might be the cause of it. Our DD is literally counting down hours (and so am I) to go pick her up so I'm hoping it's nothing!

I use the bland Encore chicken food even this happens for a couple of days. Or Sainsbury’s do there own version. Good luck!

Ask your vet if it's okay to use a small dose of liquid loperamide. My vet said it was okay when one of our cats had a similar problem. It's not okay for a kitten, though. You can google and see what you think and if it's worth asking. And it may well be your cat has a sensitivity to whatever food she's been eating. Congratulations on your new girl!

How is it going OP? And do you have a cheeky pic of new little cat to show us? Grin

She still has diarrhoea but then I only just started her on special diet, I got royal canin sensible. I'm hoping this will help! She's perfect in every other way though 😍 she's sooo loving and playful. We are all madly in love with her! I'll try put a photo here if I can figure this out lol

She still has a cone on her head from being neutered. She's completely black but she has a brown or almost ginger tone to her coat. She's so petite and gorgeous 😍

She's beautiful! I wouldn't give that cone long, our cat quickly sussed how to remove it.

Ahhhhh what a cutie Halo

mummymermaid · 03/09/2018 22:32

I'm tempted to take the cone off but she still has a small superficial scab that she keeps picking if cone taken off. This is what the rescue told me, so they sent her home with the cone. I might try taking it off tomorrow!

Took the cone off today and she picked the scab straight away lol but luckily the skin underneath had already healed! Also the diarrhoea has gone away!! 😊
