Cat has disappeared but still inside

My 7 month old kitten has somehow now disappeared in the house. She usually hides in plain sight or sleeps in under the table if she's feels overwhelmed but right now the house is entirely quiet and has been for ages. I can't seem to find her...

The windows downstairs are all closed and the windows upstairs are all closed except for my room or the bathroom. I'd have noticed her if she was trying escape my room as my curtains are covering the window and if she jumped out the bathroom window, she'd be outside... and there's nothing outside at all plus she'd be crying... i hope.

I've been trying to keep her in before she can be spayed next week, she's definitely not heat though... or is she?

I am definitely sure she's inside but she's not responding to treat or wet food packet sounds.

Any ideas to lure her back?

Check wardrobes, kitchen cupboards, under beds

Is she behind the kick boards at the bottom of your kitchen cupboards? That’s where our kitties hid for DAYS when we moved into our new house

Allergictoironing · 27/08/2018 21:57

Mine found their way inside the sofa covers, under a very low chest (adults, not kittens), under the bed, behind boxes, IN the bed, behind aforementioned sofa, in the wardrobe (still one of their favorite places even now). DBro & SiL had one who would somehow get behind books on the bookcase, and one who loved creeping behind the cable box as it was warm.

With a kitten that age, anything bigger than about 3 inches will do for them!

Go onto YouTube play a cat trilling for there kittens or just generally meowing cat will show up xx

thecatneuterer · 27/08/2018 22:46

I think she has probably got out. By 7 months she will certainly have come into heat. She should have been spayed at 4 months. And a cat in heat will do anything to get out. They even throw themselves off 10th floor balconies, so your bathroom window will be no obstacle. And then of course they get chased by Tom's which is why she isn't hanging around outside. I think you need to do the full lost cat protocol - posters, leaflets etc. And leave food outside your house.

ScreamingValenta · 27/08/2018 22:48

Try behind/beneath your kitchen units. My adult cat hid there for days after a house move.

TheConquestOfHappiness · 27/08/2018 22:50

We found our cat under floorboards once. She got in through a hole in the boiler cupboard floor.

thewreckofthehesperus · 27/08/2018 22:53

Check behind the washing machine and kitchen presses. Up the chimney? Have found mine in all these places when he was a kitten.

AmazingGrace16 · 27/08/2018 22:54

Any news at all?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 27/08/2018 22:55

Chimney
Tumble dryer
Washing machine
Behind fridge/fridge freezer
Hope you find her soon - come back & let us know.

MeetOnTheLedge · 27/08/2018 22:58

You haven't been up to the loft have you? One of ours got herself shut in there once, we didn't see her sneak up the ladder.

NipInTheAir · 27/08/2018 22:59

Oh dear. Cupboard I'd say. Had a builder once and late at night heard miaowing from under the floorboards. Builder came back.

thecatneuterer · 27/08/2018 23:05

To know for sure if she's still inside you need to shut all doors and leave a bowl of food in every room overnight. If nothing has been touched in the morning she's not in the house.

BlueUggs · 27/08/2018 23:15

My house cat got out of a small bedroom window in a first floor flat so it's entirely possible she's got out.

Notmethistimehonest · 27/08/2018 23:21

My sister’s cat went missing once and they found her 5 days later in a divan drawer. They had looked there previously and checked that room each day and she hadn’t meowed the whole time. She had a cat flap and they assumed she was out and had not come home. It was pure chance DSis looked for something else in that drawer.

She was fine if a little thin and weak. Thankfully after eating and drinking loads she was very soon back to normal.

thecatneuterer · 27/08/2018 23:21

But why would she suddenly hide? It makes no sense. You haven't just got her. Presumably nothing scary happened today. It's much more likely that she got out.

MadCatEnthusiast · 27/08/2018 23:26

I found her!

She randomly appeared on my mother's bed after I checked every corner of the house shaking some wet food and the big dry food several times over. I even opened and closed the front door since she likes to welcome people in or see them out. Must add, she looked rather bemused when I found her Blush

I suspect she was in between all the bits and bobs? She wasn't anywhere near underneath the bed. I have no clue where she was. Honestly, she makes me look like I worry for nothing sometimes! Grin

I guess she went for a catnap? She stretched a lot when I saw her. The house does have a few hiding spots but seems like she's found some more

Oh thank heaven for that. I'm very happy to have been wrong.

Possibly having a sleep! Mine has taken to sleeping under the spare bed amongst the junk after two years of living here Confused

Thehogfather · 27/08/2018 23:42

Possibly she's been on top of the wardrobe? One of ours manages to jump into the tiny gap above dd's from the windowsill. Gap is so narrow she has to crawl around on her belly, and then leap onto dd. She's an adult now but still catches us out because unless she's at the front you can only see her by standing on a chair. And it took months to figure out why the disappearing kitten kept appearing on dd's bed.

Phew!
