Citrus plants

Hi

We're getting a new 5 mth old kitten soon from a rescue centre and I am currently cat proofing the house. We intend for her to stay indoors for a few months to settle her in.

I've read conflicting things about these plants.

Would you get rid of it before the cat arrives? It's on the floor in our lounge. It's quite big so don't think I could place it out of reach anywhere (not that anywhere is particularly out of reach for a kitten...).

Thanks

It is a gorgeous plant. My kitten nibbles plants, she is three months old.

I have read the worst plant is lilies. I have had to give away my beautiful fragrance plants!

The advice in lemon trees isn’t as definite. Could you loan it to a friend for a while until you see how your kitten behaves? My previous cat only ever nibbled on grass, and ignored house plants. But she was older.

It's my favourite plant ever. I've amazingly kept it alive for some time too so am v proud of it!

Yes, I can do or easier still, just put it in one of the rooms upstairs for a bit which she won't have access to. How will I know if she'd be attracted to it though until she sees it, do you think?

Maybe wait until she has settle in then bring it back and watch her around it. She will definitely give it a good sniff - but will she try and eat it!!

And ask your vet if it’s poisonous for her. He\she will have seen everything come through the door and will give the best common sense advice.

She also might try and dog in the soil. Or use it as a toilet!!
