Microchip cat feeder - anyone have one?

I'm looking at getting one of these for my old lady but worried about whether she will get the idea.

I have old lady + 2 one-yr-olds. One of these is a bouncy healthy delight and the other is an idle fat thug (but soooo cute and silky!). The 2 younger ones eat together and this is fine, they more or less eat the same amount.

Old lady has her kibble on demand but she tends not to eat much in one go. Fat thug monitors her every move and is there ready to hoover it up if any is left. Neighbour's cat is also prone to wander it and have a bit of old lady food as well. Even worse old lady is on special high calorie diet so this does not bode well for fat thug.

I'd like old lady to be able to have free access to her dinner again in peace, stop being an all access diner for the neighbour's cat and also to stop fat thug getting fatter. A microchip feeder for old lady therefore seems the perfect solution.

Does anyone else have one and is it something that an older cat would get the hang of?

I have several! The first cat to have one (aged 8) took about 6 months to use it properly but I'm fairly sure that was stubbornness on her part. Have just got the latest one for a four year old ex-stray who's a bit dim. I used training mode and he got the hang of it in a couple of weeks.

What's training mode?

Older cat is losing weight but very definitely hungry. She comes and tells us repeatedly each evening to fill up her bowl - problem is we don't know who eats it all! She's quite creaky but much more active than the lazy fat thug who would rather laze about on the sofa all day.

I v much want to improve older cat's diet but at the moment I'd be improving her's, thug's and neighbour's and a bit of bouncy cat's at the same time. I'm not buying them all posh trays of delicious expensive food - that's for my old lady only!

Training mode is a matter of pressing a button on the back and the tray partially closes to get the cat used to the noise and movement. There are three levels.

It's definitely worth buying for your circumstances.

I had them one fatty was on soft diet. Couldn't for the life of me work it out. And they aren't the sharpest of cats. Sold them on eBay!
