Cat cafe in Reims France

We went to a wonderful little cafe in Reims France just recently, and they had cats everywhere.
We don’t have a cat, as we go away a lot. So this place was heaven for us. We were just randomly passing by, saw cats in the window and were drawn in. Here’s a little beauty we came across 😻

There are several cat cafes in the UK. Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool.
I'm not at all sure how I feel about them but the Liverpool one is nice and doesn't allow children under 10, unless at special sessions. The Nottingham one feels a bit too busy and lots of childrenZ

I knew they had them here in the UK, but was staying in Reims and randomly came across the cat cafe.
The cats loved the fuss dds gave them. They came and went as they pleased and had toys, scratching posts, beds, hiding places etc.

That looks lovely op.

I live in Liverpool and the cat cafe is well run. They only allow a certain number of people in at a time, and for a limited time, and have an area where the cats can go but the people can't so they can go and chill if it gets a bit much for them. They allow even less people in the under tens session and it's only an hour long.
The cats are all well cared for and show no signs of stress and are of course all adorable and very personable in nature.

I'd highly recommend it if you're ever up this neck of the woods, but would recommend calling up and booking a slot

Yes. Agreed. I live in Nottingham but much prefer the Liverpool one. The cats really do seem to enjoy all the fuss. And the staff genuinely love and know all the cats well.

Orangelover · 18/08/2018 18:16

Never been to Liverpool or Leeds one but I like the Nottingham one. It is very busy but all the cats didn't seem to be bothered by it. Most of them seem to love the fuss and attention and can dissppear off behind the scenes if they want to.

It is quite expensive to go in but if the money goes to the cats and their rehoming services then I can deal Grin

I went to one in Budapest as well Hmm

There's a cat pub in Bristol! Not cat themed as such, just a pub that happens to be full of cats.
I tend to think the owner should be a bit hotter on neutering maybe, but they seem healthy and nobody is allowed to harass them. They interact when and if they want to.

Weedsnseeds1 · 18/08/2018 23:08

To be fair, I may be making an assumption that the cats are related, they could be a random assortment of waifs and strays.
Either way, they're in charge and lounge around on the bar and window sills!

Longdistance · 18/08/2018 23:12

With this cat cafe, there was a chart/notebook of each cats name, their circumstances, and they were neutered. Very well looked after imho, and roamed and did their own thing. Which, we all know is what cats like to do.
The lady that ran it, had her dp and friends helping her. Everything was cat themed.

I do like a pub cat. I'm not keen on the idea of cat cafes as I think it puts unnecessary stress on cats. They're not cruel but more set up for human benefit rather than the cats.

Joboy · 18/08/2018 23:15

There is one Bournemouth too.
I am not sure how they make their money as you need extra staff to look after the cats

Weedsnseeds1 · 18/08/2018 23:22

Vinorosso it's not a pub cat, there's maybe 15 or 20 of them Grin
They may not grace you with their presence all at the same time, but you are pretty much guaranteed half a dozen or so.
They literally sleep on the bar, the seats and tables.
I don't mind , being a cat person, but I suspect there's a correlation between number of cats and pub not serving food!

Vinorosso74 · 18/08/2018 23:36

Weeds I was just thinking how I like a pub cat as I was in a pub with one a couple of weeks back. There is one I need to meet called Legz: www.thecharlottedespard.co.uk/legz.html
Ps.Apologies for slight thread derail

I did take my boy glamping about 2 years ago and he sat under the table during the pub quiz, like a little dog, when OH and I paired up with the farmer and his wife to make a team at the local.
He had his jacket and lead on and behaved impeccably ( unlike last week, when he gatecrashed the neighbours drinks party with a mouse in his gob).

Deafdeafdeath · 19/08/2018 00:26

Come to Glasgow, we have one too! Reims is beautiful, I hope you had s lovely time.

ScreamingValenta · 19/08/2018 00:26

Is it just me or does that cat epitomise French chic?

IhatetheArchers · 19/08/2018 00:30

The cat pub in Bristol is brilliant! retro music, good beer and cats. But possibly not the most hygienic pub I've been to.

Lynne1Cat · 19/08/2018 00:44

We've got one in Nottingham, and there's another in Derby. I've been twice. Booking is required, and there is a limit to staying for an hour. There is a fee.

The cats are all adorable, and most are up for adoption. The policy they have there is that customers don't pick the cats up, but they can be stroked.

Bubbaduck · 19/08/2018 00:44

Planning a trip to the Glasgow one soon. DD couldn't stop staring when we walked past it a couple of months ago.
