Cat with upset stomach and bald patch

Hi all

2yr old female cat has had an upset stomach last night and today, two looser than normal poos and thrown up once (definitely not a hair ball). We weren’t too concerned as she is still active and drinking the normal amount.

Now we’ve noticed a bald patch on her leg (photo attached). She has been grooming that area a lot the last few days. It’s not scabby but it is red.

Anyone got any ideas? The earliest the vet can fit us in is Wednesday so I’m just wondering if I should try another one to get in earlier. We’ve only had her a few months so we’re still getting to know what’s normal for her.

Sorry to hear your cat is poorly. I don't really have any ideas other than to do what you are doing; i.e. get the vet's opinion. If she is still active and otherwise normal, keep an eye on her in the meantime - if she starts to behave in an unwell way (lethargic, difficulty moving, growling) find a vet who can fit you in urgently. Check as well that she is weeing normally; if she isn't, you also need an urgent appointment. If the vet can't diagnose her by sight, they'll probably run some blood tests but that's usually quick and easy.

My reply will bump your thread so hoping someone who has seen these symptoms in their cat might be more help.

Does your cat go outside? If so, it could be the start of an abscess after being bitten or scratched by another cat. That would need painkillers and antibiotics ASAP.

If not, possibly ringworm (a fungal infection which still needs to be treated by a vet, and humans can catch it)

Thanks both

She’s currently an indoor cat most of the time, only outside with us in the garden or kitchen due to her nervousness (rescue cat) so definitely not a cat fight but will keep an eye out for signs of ringworm on me and DP.
