Anyone else with a cat that can sense anxiety??

So I have 2 rescue cats. The eldest Ellie is rather aloof and may occasional rub against your leg but will not under any circumstances come for cuddles. We are the Hooman slaves who feed her and that's it.

My younger cat Ivy is very different. And I have noticed that she is at her most affectionate when my anxiety is particularly bad. She likes a stroke but when I am very anxious she makes a bee-line for me and will not leave me alone. She sits on my shoulder, lays in my arms, licks my face, meows constantly, literally all over me. I've got to say she really does calm me down when it's bad and then once I'm settled she jumps down and settles in her bed.
Do you think it's possible she is either sensing my distress or maybe even the increase in stress hormone? Or is she just after a cuddle and it's all just coincidence?

Either way I think this makes her a very special little cat.

I think some cats can sense how you're feeling. I had a home birth with my second and my very outdoors, barely here cat came and lay next to me on the sofa the whole time I was in labour (20+ hours).

My lady cat favours my elder son who is autistic, he can do anything to that cathe and she let's him - he can wear her like a scarf!

However, she's there for me when I'm having a bad day with my depression. Sometimes I won't realise I've been having a bad spells for a couple of days bit she senses it and won't leave my side.

My two cats and dog always come and cuddle up to me if I am crying.

@booboobutt @Tomorrowiscancelled @ScreamingValenta bless them they all sound very similar! I call Ivy my therapy cat as she is so good at noticing when I need her. Don't know what I would do without her!

My cat too - he really notices when the anxiety is bad. He chirps to me more and stays with me. Stroking a cat is better than therapy or propranalol!

Yeah, I got taken quite ill recently and the cat was in a state of terror when I got out and hadn't eaten anything. She died a few days later
