Will he come back?

So our relatively new boy (got him about two months ago), has moved house with us 2 and a half weeks ago. I've let him in the garden a few times and then brought him back and given him treats etc. A few days ago he went straight over the fence. We went to look for him and found him on the next road very spooked and scared. To be fair I let him out when there were lots of builders around and it was a bit noisy. Have since let him out in the garden a few times and brought him back in. This time he's gone out and gone straight over the fence and onto the next road (not a busy road) and when we went to look for him he was no where in sight.

I'm guessing we just have to sit and wait now and see if he comes back? I'm so worried! We got him from a rescue place where he was found stray. It was thought he had a home as he was well kept but no one ever claimed him.

Should I be worried? Or do I just need to chill and wait for him to come back? We don't have a cat flap yet but I can leave a window open for him.

Thanks!

Put some of his litter outside, he will be able to smell it. I’m sure he’ll come back, he’s just enjoying his new found freedom

Empty your hoover bag or canister outside too. The smell of your house will travel and hopefully help him find his way home. Hope he comes back soon.

Found him! My partner went out looking for him and found him chasing another cat 😕 Think he's going to be the neighbourhood nightmare cat!

That's good news. You must be very relievedSmile

Yeah very relieved just to hear that he was out and about having a good time and not scared somewhere. Think he gets stressed when we try to bring him in. He was desperate to get outside this morning so I've let him out. I'm now worried as it's so hot! Cats aren't silly are they? He'll be alright won't he? Some one tell me to chill please! My other cat only likes to sit in the garden really and that's it so I've never had this problem before.

Sounds like you've got a little free spirit on your handsGrin! I've got one of those, so know how you feelHmm. I know a lot of people cat-proof their gardens, but it's not practical for me to do that. Some people let their cats out when their hungry, so they're more likely to return quickly. I spend a good deal of my life with cat-stress. He might start to be more a home bird as he ages. He sounds a real character.

@Want2beme he really is! He is definitely a character that's for sure. Just hope he has the sense to return! X
