All the advice please.

We are getting two sister kittens in a weeks time. Iv never owned a cat so all advice welcome and tips on how to transition them would be fantastic.

Obviously I'm reading up on what I need and what I will need to do to make them comfortable and relaxed but there is nothing like advice from the people that really know.

I lost my dog in January and my son and husband are definitely cat fans so time for a new adventure.

You don't own the cat, they own you! Prepare for a lifetime of slavery.
You need a litter tray, litter and a scoop. I scoop mine into dog poo bags and put in the bin.
Beds are not essential but some cats do use them.
Food and water bowls/ glasses/ cups etc.
Scratching post and lots of toys.
And it's compulsory to post photos on here.

Just leave them to settle in. Some cats are very confident abs will wa t to get to know the whole house straight away. Some won't. If they hide, leave them alone, they'll come out when they are ready.

See how it goes, once you've got all the bowls, litter tray etc sorted its just a case of letting them settle in and gain confidence.

Oh another new kitten mummy, we’re getting two on Sunday and I’m so excited!!

We’ve always had cats, I’ve bought
A small litter tray (will buy two hooded ones once they get used to it)
Litter
Food bowls
Food (they are in Whiskas kitten but I’ll change this soon)
Cat bed
toys (some little mice and a feathery thing) no doubt they will have a lot more soon
I have kitten proofed the playroom as much as I can so they can get used to one room first.

Oh dear, you have no idea what you're letting yourself in forGrin. You've got a whole different world ahead of you with Dcats. Your eyes will be opened. Welcome to cat slavedom & cat twattery!

Kittens are such fun. Full of energy and mischief. They'll play & play, then suddenly collapse with exhaustion. They love climbing, especially up the curtains. Get them a scratch post, and other things they can scratch. Little balls to chase -
someone on here mentioned ping pong balls recently. Bring something from the home they're in now that will have a familiar smell for them.

Don't forget pics when they arrive.

Put the litter tray on an old sheet/curtain etc. So much easier to shake out any spilt litter/clean up any accidents or tiny pooey pawprints!

Thank you for all the advice. Here are my two new girls. Now for the chaos to ensue

Want2beme · 20/07/2018 14:27

They are lovely. Happy cattingGrin

Arrivederci · 20/07/2018 14:39

Beautiful girls!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 20/07/2018 18:34

Squeeeee!

What have you called them? How are they doing?

Mustang27 · 22/07/2018 19:46

Petra and Oona and they are getting on swimmingly. They have run of the house now they are so well behaved can't get over how smart they are. Puppies are idiots in comparison lol.

They seem extremely cuddlyShockDoes this last?? I expected to be ignored mostly.

That's Oona having a boob cuddle.

We are letting them upstairs but not in our bedroom yet as there are far too many cables and things they could hurt themselves with but I was wondering should I have a litter tray upstairs for now as well? They seem very used to their tray downstairs and happily go down to use it don't want to confuse them.

Mine was a very cuddly kitten and still likes to be held like a baby. Not as much but he is still a lap cat.
