Little bugger went out last night at 8pmish and he's just sauntered back in... The little shit.

As he wasnt around at breakfast I've been worrying, wandering aNd calling, shaking treats etc.. got me feeling quite upset this afternoon worrying.

I feel like grounding him for ever..
What else can I do? Can't keep going though this very other day. I'll be mess lol.

I know the feeling Klutzy, my little sod has just strolled in after 5 days and 4 nights missing !!
So glad your cat came back though..

Normaknowall · 07/07/2018 22:08

Mine went out about 3 and hasn't appeared again, it's only been 4 days since he was missing for 3 days so I'm being v paranoid but I do sympathise OP, I'm a wreck again and still haven't caught up on sleep from walking around at 3am for three nights.
DP says can't keep him in and I know he's right but don't know when I will relax again when the little shit is out (cat, not DP).
Gin, maybe?

LanguidLobster · 07/07/2018 22:27

He'll be back. I think they like to stay out in this weather.

Does your head in though

Maryzsnewaccount · 07/07/2018 22:31

Mine went missing last week. It's not unusual for her - we have a little old lady over the wall who feeds her regularly and tries to keep here in.

Unfortunately dd took the dog for a walk this evening and he found her in a bush on the side of the road, where she has obviously been thrown having been hit by a car Sad. I'm trying to summon up the courage to go and collect the body and dispose of it. I just can't bring myself to go out there.

Maryzsnewaccount · 07/07/2018 22:31

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have posted that.

Most cats wander and come back; we've just been unlucky this week.

Normaknowall · 07/07/2018 22:33

So sorry Maryzs. Thinking of you.

Annabelle4 · 07/07/2018 22:36

My mum's once went for 6 weeks Shock

LanguidLobster · 07/07/2018 22:43

@Maryz oh gosh I'm so sorry, and know how you feel. Do you have a partner with you? Do you want to bury her in your garden? Either you or DP need to get a towel and wrap her up, keep her somewhere safe from other animals tonight.

Awful though :(

Annabelle4 · 07/07/2018 22:45

Sorry maryZ, I hadn't seen your post Flowers

LanguidLobster · 07/07/2018 22:56

@Maryz please get her body in tonight well wrapped up and you can deal with it tomorrow. Have a cup of tea/coffee or stiff drink first.

kissingfrog123 · 07/07/2018 23:14

Sorry @Maryzsnewaccount this happened to me last week. It's so shocking and sad. Sending love and sympathy

welshmist · 07/07/2018 23:17

Awful finding a cat like that Maryz, hugs...

Cats are slutty, will stay out, scrounge off neighbours, live on mice and god knows what. Mine has just wandered in, and thrown up in the conservatory, with every door and window open she waits until she gets in. Angry

LanguidLobster · 07/07/2018 23:21

@welshmist I don't know if anyone else has done this but when I hear the starting to retch noise my eyes widen in horror and I run very fast to either get them off any carpeted area or ideally plonk them outside (if there's time!)

BackToTheFuschia7 · 08/07/2018 01:32

@Maryzsnewaccount I’m so sorry. Do you have anyone who could go and collect her for you? Can only imagine how difficult that would be for you.

@KlutzyDraconequus Although it’s quite common for them to saunter off in the heat it’s also really important to keep a track of them incase they’re stuck somewhere in extreme temperatures. Have you heard of cat proofing or a catio? It’s a brilliant way of allowing your cat outside access without the risks and worry.

KlutzyDraconequus · 08/07/2018 08:56

Maryz that is the scenario I live in dread of to be honest. I've been in google.maps and satellite images. From my garden there's about 30 gardens in easy reach of mine and no roads to cross. So fingers crossed mine never goes near roads.

I hope you're feeling as well as can be expected this morning tho. You have my sympathy and my thoughts today. Flowers

As for mine, he hasnt disappeared as much since the last time. When he came back I put another new collar on and wrote my address in it in Sharpie. My thinking is he and back and wasn't hungry so some kind person may have been feeding him.. and if they were feeding nicer food than I do then he'll stay there, the collar woukd let them know he isn't a stray... (I dislike collars on case for fear of them being trapped.. but this one has a stretchy bit and a pull apart hasp.)

Thanks everyone.

ds and a friend went and collected her last night and buried her in the garden for me. I must say, the lads were great; I'm not sure I could have done it Sad

I have had cats all my life, this is the first time ever we've been a catless household, but I'm not sure I can do it again. There just seems to be so much more traffic going faster (the road she was hit on was a quiet residential area, not a main road) and that coupled with the fact that there seem to be fewer and fewer gardens (it's all fake grass and paving around here) means that cats wander further.

I suppose I could try a housecat, but it seems cruel to me, like keeping birds in a cage.

Floralnomad · 08/07/2018 19:28

You could always cat proof your garden so that the cat can’t get out , still gets to go outside with none of the danger . Sorry for your loss maryz

LanguidLobster · 08/07/2018 19:34

@Klutzy is he back now? They're such s nightmare at times!

@Maryz so glad the boys sorted it out. I'm not sure I'd ever get another again either (lost one recently and I'm sure it's my fault, can't stop beating myself up about it)
