Attacking or playing?

Hi everyone, I'm a first time cat owner have a lovely 5 month old kitten who's super playful. There's one thing he does completely at random ( I.e not during playtime ) where he wraps his legs and body around mine or DPs forearm and bites but not actually sinking his teeth in and then will jump off, look at me and then do it to my elbow or my hand.

Is this playing or is it aggressive behaviour, I can't really tell? He does it more to DP than me. And how do I teach him not to do it? I've tried to distract him with another toy whilst he's doing it but he doesn't care

Thank you

It's playing and will grow out of it !

@lynmilne65 thank you for your reply, should I still try and discourage him from doing it?

Definitely playing - they love nibbling.

I guess you could get a water pistol or get stern but it's only a kitty kiss

Just received another one! Guess I'll have to get used to it but glad it's playing and not malicious

Playing and the best way to teach him out of it is to ignore him completely when he does it - I mean literally get up and walk away. He will learn the fun stops if he does it.

Otherwise never play with him using your hands, always just toys. Toys on a stick/string are ideal.
