Poo sticking to cats bums

2 of my cats sometimes have issues with poo sticking to their bum. Recently its become more frequent with the boy cat.

They’re both shorthaired and healthy (solid poos too so no mucky fur)

I’m not sure if the poo gets stuck on the way out (sorry) or just tangled in the fur.

I’ve tried to clean them myself before but last time I ended up chasing boycat around the house, with the poo flapping up and down as he ran away Envy I stopped in case it ended up flying off and hitting me/anything else. I leave them to clean it themselves now, but they do so by dragging their bums on the floor to get it off.

I can only find info for long haired cats, so wondeing if anyone with a short hair has had this happen? They don’t have any matted fur, their bums are never sore.

Luckily I tend to be at home when it’s their time to go, and they tend to get it off im the litter room so I can clean it up easily but I’m worried about not spotting it on time or the cats leaving little cleg nuts somewhere I can’t see.

Is it likely to just be a fur problem?

I can't think of anything to suggest. Their poos are normal, so they shouldn't be getting stuck. Maybe they're both a bit lazy with finishing offGrin. To be honest, I'd ask the vet what they think it could be.

Is their poo dry and hard, it's easy to get constipated in this heat if they don't drink much. Sometimes our short haired kitty had a piece of grass attaching her poo to her bottom, it wasn't her fur that was a problem but we had clean her bot with cotton wool and warm water and she occasionally had laxative paste.are they happy with their litter,

Occasionally happens to my cat when she's swallowed grass or one of my daughter's long strands of hair, which comes out the other end undigested. A bit of poo is left dangling from the grass or hair, and she does that bum shuffling thing to get rid of it. I'm afraid I don't know what the answer is, but I feel your pain!

One of the is an indoor cat, so no grass but its been when the poo is normal really (to me anyway). The grass could be an issue with the boy cat though.

I’ve never noticed constipation but thinking about itbwhen the indoor one goes, sometimes there’s almost like a thud so maybe the poo is hard. It always seems normal when I’m scooping the trays.

I think I’ll just mention it to the vet before their next checkup. Do you think they’ll want a stool sample?

They seem fine with the litter as far as I can tell.

I took a sample to our vet and he looked like I was mad, maybe it was all the crusty litter stuck to it.
