And if so, do you have any recommendations please?

Bump. It's my last hope!

Could your vet recommend someone?

dementedpixie · 28/06/2018 17:58

Have you every watched Jackson Galaxy on tv? He's based in America though

YesItsMeIDontCare · 28/06/2018 17:58

I haven't used a cat behaviourist, but Jackson Galaxy's methods have worked wonders on Leroy.

What's the problem?

IStillMissBlockbuster · 28/06/2018 18:06

Hehe yes I love Jackson Galaxy!

My cat wees by the front door (inside the house, on the door mat). She always has done. In the old house and now in this one. She's upped the ante now and only has a 50/50 hit rate with the litter boxes. I'm cleaning all the time! I'm sick of it and it can't continue. I quarantined her to the bedroom and ensuite to minimise the damage until we fixed this but it hasn't been successful and now she's just destroying the carpet.

We've tried playing with her, she prefers puppy pads over cat litter right now so that's what we use, took her to the vets, got her a water fountain, got her scratching posts and those corrugated cardboard scratching boxes (which she mostly sits on and rubs her face all over Hmm). I've let her out in the garden for the first time today in the hopes that that helps but she hasn't been massively keen. I'm scared to let her roam the house and she's wrecking the bedroom so I feel stuck.

It might be a long shot - but last JG one I saw with a problem with the litter tray was a problem with the cats paws. The litter was actually hurting it I think.

TaggieRR · 28/06/2018 18:11

I know someone who has. Whereabouts in the country are you?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 28/06/2018 18:12

Sorry - meant to ask how old she is!

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2018 18:21

I saw that program too, I’d already figured out ultra clumping was closer to earth than the other litters & he really likes Wilkos ultra clumping in a huge tray.

That and cystease tablets, it’s calming on stressy cystitis prone cats.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 28/06/2018 18:22

She's 9 years old.
She's had on and off litter day problems and in the past, using a puppy pad and gradually adding litter worked but she's not consistently using the box with the puppy pad in still.

I tried Zylkene (no difference) and she has Calm cat food anyway

Zylkene is for periods of short term stress, moving, cattery stays, etc.

Cystease is for bladders. It hasn’t calmed him down.

Did you see the bbc show with the cat weeing everywhere? They got them using a massive 80l storage box as a tray with a really thick layer of litter. Our cat prefers it deep enough to cover his paws & will fetch me if it’s too shallow.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 28/06/2018 18:38

Yes, I'd look at the type of litter, the depth of the litter and the size of the box.

For example, Leroy has to be able to turn round properly, and must be at least ankle deep. (He also likes me someone to accompany him Hmm.)

IStillMissBlockbuster · 28/06/2018 20:46

Ok, i'd never heard of Cystease so thank you for etting me know. I'll give it a try.
