Shall I bring him to bed?

First night in our new house with my little guy. He's spent most of the night hiding under the bookcase. He's had a potter round, no food but a drink of water and is yet to use his litter tray.

Normally he sleeps on my bed with me. I can't decide whether to leave him in his hidey hole, or bring him up?

Not a big problem in the scheme of things, but I want him to be as settled as he can be when everything's all strange.

Can you leave the doors open so he can find his own way up if he wants?

Yes, I think that might be what I do. I took him upstairs to show him where his tray was and he's found a snug spot under the loft stairs outside my bedroom.
I hope he finds his way to me in the night :)

Bound to. He’ll settle, don’t worry.

Well, he stayed in his little cave for most of the night, but he did wander into my room for a little explore at some point.

I don't have to go back to work till Monday, so hopefully he'll be a bit braver by then.

Are you going to keep him indoors for a few weeks?

NC4Now · 21/06/2018 11:34

Yes. I’m hoping to cat proof the garden too. I’m a bit over protective of him.
TBH, I doubt he’ll come out of his cave under the stairs for a few weeks by the look of him!

Bless him. It must all feel very strange.
Fatt Matt takes most things in his stride, including going to my mom’s and going away to holiday cottages, but I do realise he is the minority!
Your dcat will emerge in his own time.

He's well and truly out! He's curled up on my bed the last two nights and is enjoying exploring his new house.

I just need to nip the 4am sillies in the bud now. He normally sleeps through but he's taken to thundering round on the wooden floors, shouting his head off, the hooligan.

Oh dear Grin. He has probably got lots of energy as he can’t go out. Lots of playing and running up and down stairs before bed might wear him out.
