Worried about cat’s eye

I’m probably being overly worried here, but would appreciate some advice from fellow cat lovers!

My lovely cat Rosie was fine when I got in from work earlier, but about 45 minutes ago DH was looking at her and asked what was wrong with her eye. He chased her under the desk and said it looked like her eyelid was turned inside out, but then it seemed to right itself and her eye just looked a bit sore as you’d expect.

I just had to go out to drop DH off somewhere, have got back and found her eye is still looking sore - she’s not opening it fully, her third eyelid is partly visible and it’s very weepy, although it looks like normal tears rather than discharge as such.

Pics attached - do you think I need to worry about this or will it get less sore by itself? I hate seeing either of my kitties in pain! Note that eye always looks pink around the edge just because her coat is white in that area.

She’s just curled up for a snooze in her favourite chair, so hoping that might help.

That looks sore, in the last pic is it swollen under her red eye or just the way she is sitting.

She often looks a bit funny in the cheeks like that in photos- I don’t think her face is actually swollen.

It’s the amount of tears weeping out that’s worrying me, and the fact she won’t open it fully. Could she have something stuck in there, a tiny bit of grit or something- and if so how would I get it out?

She perhaps has something stuck and may have been scratching it hence the eyelid turned out. I would bathe with cooled boiled water and keep a close eye on it. If it's no better by morning take her to the vets for some cream. Hope she feels better soon. X

Could she have been stung by a wasp or bee? If she has most of the swelling will go down over night. If it doesn't then take her to the vets. My idiot boy cat is always chasing bee's around my lavender plants then coming in with bits of him swelling up. Last time it was his paw and it swelled to nearly twice the size but most of it had gone in a few hours and was completely better after a couple of days.

Yes I think she was pawing at it a little bit earlier - will try bathing as you suggest. She seems ok in herself, and is maybe opening it a little bit more now.

She did get stung on the paw by something last year- didn’t notice it happen but she had a big paw for a day or two!

I’m due my first baby in October so goodness knows what a worrier I’ll be with him/ her, if I’m this bad with the cats!
