Fatty having a scan to see if her disease is stable. Hoping that there has been no deterioration. She's very well in herself so hopefully not.
Snorg having a scan to check she's not developing cardiomyopathy. The septum in her heart is slightly thickened. But no disease in February.

Keep your paws crossed for them!

Fingers and paws crossed here. Harry and I are sending positive thoughts and purrs to you all.

They certainly are tougher than they look. Snorg survived pancreatitis against all the odds and I'm amazed that Fatty is still with me and completely well in herself.

Mixed news. The obstruction in Fatty's heart has improved. Presumably reducing the risk of her throwing a clot off. But her left atrium has got bigger. She going to start on a drug that helps with the contractility. And be seen again in a month.

Snorg remains the same and her smooshed belly was much admired.

Hi toddlertea. I hope the new meds help your kitty. Following my posts last week, my cat has been referred to the cardio specialist and his appointment is tomorrow so I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s good news.

Hope so. Let us know how it goes. My one fear with Fatty is that she'd throw a clot and be in pain if I was at work/ out. So I'm a bit reassured that this is hopefully less likely the obstruction is better.

Harry waves to his girls

Just tried cutting her new tablets into quarters! That was quite tricky as they just crumbled! Dreading having to her reduce the dose of atenolol as they are so tiny they were a nightmare to halve.

She's absorbing the information about her new tablets by sleeping on the information leaflet.

Bless her! She's a good girl, I don't even read the leaflet as I know I'll develop the side effects when I know what they are!

Are the tablets clopidogrel? Troy had to have a quarter of a tablet daily. I used a very sharp knife to cut them but they were a nightmare as they weren't perfect quarters.

She's on a whole tablet of clopidogrel, so that's not an issue. Atenolol was a nightmare when she first started as they are so tiny I couldn't cut a quarter. She'll be on half a tablet of the new ones next week and the halve easily. They are just very crumbly. I've got a pill cutter which makes it easier.

I get the feeling that the cardiologist is underplaying jus how sick she really is. (Not that you'd know it by the way she's kidding it round the house) She also agrees that I'm right in not getting her kidney function checked again. It's at top end of normal, which is good enough for me!

That's how we feel about Harry. When he had his last blood test his kidney function had improved and we're going to leave him be. If he needs testing for anything else (he must be running out of things by now!) we'll have it done then. He won't eat the renal diet so there's nothing else I can do.

What makes you think they're underplaying it @Toddler? I'm sure they won't hide anything from you.

I don't think she's hiding anything. It just a couple of comments she made.

Just picked up my kitty from the vet. Had to leave him there for the day as he had to be sedated in the end. The cardiologist tried without sedation with us there but he was so noisy and squirmy that it was proving too difficult. Mixed news. He has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but his left atrium is completely normal so his heart function is not currently affected. No meds required (yet) but just going to keep an eye and fingers crossed there will be no progression. Got to be re-scanned in 6 months.
Strangely it’s not the HCM which is causing the heart murmur. The scan also revealed a slight stenosis (narrowing) in an area on the right side which is completely harmless but is causing the abnormal heart sounds.
All in all I’m fairly reassured by what I’ve been told and the cardiologist is fairly optimistic about kitty’s prognosis.

That's good. At least now you know and can monitor him. Fatty says he's a silly boy for not lying still!

😅 fatty’s right. Actually the main problem was the noise he was making. Apparently every time he miaowed (loudly) his lungs would swell and hide his heart 😅

The girls send their love to their fan club. The cardiologist and nurse were struggling to find Snorgs legs and were very amused by her folding her tail under her tummy. Her fat tummy was much admired!
