Moving house and can't have Cat flap

I have an 11 year old rescue cat who at the moment comes and goes as she pleases through the Cat flap...sometimes she stays out at night sometimes she stays in....we are moving next week and there is no option to have a cat flap as living room is at the back with patio doors, and kitchen is at the front.

Really don't know what to do as it won't be a case of letting her out at night and in in the morning as she likes to do what she wants plus the dog uses the cat flap too but that will be easier to get around! I thought about leaving a living room window open a bit but not sure if that's dodgy? Really stuck.

If it’s not a permission thing (private renting)
You can definitely get a cat flap fitted into glass door. It does involve a completely new pane of glass however. A couple hundred quid all in?
Call a local glazier company and they will advise.

Oh really? I didn't know that I may have to look into it thanks

You can also fit a cat flap through the exterior wall at the back, it just needs an extension tunnel bit. Sure Flap sells them and others probably do as well. Is that that an option for you or do you rent?

I can do that it's quite a new house
So I'm guessing the walls would be easier another thing for me to look at thanks.

Yep my mate had a cat flap in a glazed door x

something like this www.amazon.co.uk/Mate-Locking-Glass-Fitting-White/dp/B0002AQZL6?tag=mumsnetforum-21
A friend had one, it was relatively easy to fit, it came with a kit for cutting the glass, the one above doesn't but you can buy circular glass cutters quite cheaply.

Thanks all

It's cheaper to put a flap in a wall, but it can be done in a patio door, but you have to pay for a whole new glass panel.

We had a cat flap in a wall of our last house. DH did it himself he's hopeless at diy it's not difficult
