OH brought him home - "I'm having nothing to do with it!" says I!

Seven days in and he's MINE!!! GrinGrinGrin

He's pbviously been a lovely boy who got in a fight because O probably wouldn't neuter. Now this bewitching angel is cursed by such a terrible virus. It's drivem me to utter tears, I feel so much love that I thought was gone for good after Mhyr died.

FIV really isn't usually that bad a thing, honestly. Most FIV cats seem to go through life with very few or even no ill effects and end up dying of something totally unrelated - such as old age.

I've had more FIV positive cats than I can count. It sometimes made their teeth more likely to need to be taken out, but all lived very long lives and died of normal old age things, such as kidney disease/stroke/cancer.

It can certainly shorten the lives of some, but it's definitely not a foregone conclusion and I really wouldn't so much about it.

As thecatneuterer says it isn't too much of a worry. I agree it is bad he likely got it as his owner didn't have him neutered. However, he has a new home now where he'll be cared for.
I've never had a FIV cat myself but have met quite a lot during my shifts at CP. There have been some poor beaten up looking lads amongst them, some have lost eyes along the way but the majority have been really nice natured friendly cats. The centre homes a lot of FIVs as we're in London and a lot of people can only adopt indoor cats. They take quite a few from the local RSPCA hospital too.
And don't forget we need a photo!
