Any advice for first return from cattery?

DCat is 6mnths old and back from his first stay in the cattery. He had been going out in the daytime and in for the night (for abt a month following his castration), but I don't know if I should let him out today fresh from the cattery? Is he likely to wander more and forget home, given he's been away for a week, or would he return to old pattern? Should I keep him in today? He's constantly going to the conservatory and kitchen doors and is clearly dying to go out, but I'm a bit nervous!

Forgot obligatory pic! (Clearly scandalised that I wasn't packing him in the case!)

He's gorgeous! I kept mine in for 4 days just to be in the safe side. She was s bit needy when she came home so thought best to remind her she was safe with mummy again.

What a gorgeous tabby, such an expressive face.
I kept mine in 24hrs. I'd had her (also a rescue) about 3 months the first time she went into a cattery. But she was pretty fed up about being kept in. Over time I've realised she is very bonded to me and won't be disappearing off. But for your first time maybe keep him in til the morning?

Ok, thanks for replies - so I'm going to give him 24hrs inside I think. He's had the requisite amount of head-butts, sniffed the whole house, invaded the post hol washing and killed a smelly sock, begged to DS and been rewarded with 5 dreamies and is now fast asleep on DS's top bunk so all is right with his world, but I want to be on the safe side.
