Talk me out of adopting this Siamese cat...

I have fallen in love just from the photo!
Have never had a Siamese before but I understand they like to talk a lot, what else should I be aware of?
I have a young ragdoll already, do you think a Siamese and ragdoll would make good companions?

I’ve applied for her, just waiting to hear back! Missy

She is gorgeous. Siamese do talk a lot and have presume we still worship them but are great fun.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/05/2018 20:14

From one extreme to the other with a rag doll and a Siamese, good luck!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 29/05/2018 20:19

Oh my! she is a beauty! Let us all know if you get her!

Want2beme · 29/05/2018 20:30

She looks very determindGrin. Do you have the power to resist?!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/05/2018 20:46

Oh she is gorgeous! Good luck

CremeBrulee · 29/05/2018 20:49

Go for it, she's lovely. I've been owned by Siamese for most of my life. They are loyal, loving and great company. Just be prepared to be needed.

freakinbananaspiders · 29/05/2018 20:49

Lucky you she's gorgeous. They should get on fine as Ragdolls are laid back and the Siamese is a kitten but Blue Cross will be able to confirm it. Will be interesting to see if your Raggy starts to talk more if you get her.

sillyswimmer · 29/05/2018 20:59

She's utterly gorgeous. You know you have to have her!

Hellbentwellwent · 29/05/2018 21:06

She will sleep on your face, and if you do manage to persuade her that you need to breathe and can shift her off your head she’ll sleep slap bang in the middle of the bed so you’ll have to sleep perched on the edge of the mattress... it’s a life of oxygen deprived sleep and cold arse, but she’ll be a treasure.

Wheretheresawill1 · 29/05/2018 21:10

meezer lovings for 12yrs here
Chatty, good fun, sense of humour, loud, demanding and very very loyal oh and pokes me in the eye at 2am to check my reflexes!

Beaverhausen · 29/05/2018 21:13

Oh my gosh she is gorgeous, Siamese are such intelligent cats, very chatty and a lot of fun.

Kraggle · 29/05/2018 21:14

Get her, Get her, Get her, Get her, Get her!!!

helpful

GlitteryFluff · 29/05/2018 21:23

Gorgeous!

You know you have to update this thread with lots of pics if when you get her right? It's the law!

Savvylover211 · 29/05/2018 21:33

They are very very chatty yes. Agree with PP who said prepare to be needed. They are compared to burmese and bengals quite a lot. I have a bengal and she is very chatt, very underfoot, and very needy. Wouldn't trade her for the world. They are lovely, loving, and loyal cats from my experience. Any clients at work that have them (I'm a vet nurse) absolutely adore them and say they are the only breed they would ever get and if they were to get another breed it would be something similar to a siamese. So yeah go for it!! She is absolutely gorgeous btw :)

PunkrockerGirl59 · 29/05/2018 21:36

She's beautiful. Look forward to seeing the welcome home photos Grin

Frenchfemme · 29/05/2018 21:37

NO you must not adopt her, you must send her over to me!! She is beautiful and I'm sure will fit in well (i.e. bend you to her will). I have had Siamese cats for many years - they are all different, and all unique characters. Bon chance!

PetulantPolecat · 29/05/2018 21:46

I personally wouldn’t. The Siamese kitten will try to dominate and bully the adult ragdoll Cat, so the Siamese will be the alpha cat. I couldn’t do that to a pet of mine. Neither will be happy and there will be lots of marking on soft furnishings until a pecking order is established. I feel sorry for the poor ragdoll

MrsCatE · 29/05/2018 22:34

Nooooo. Don't do it

  • not mine; neighbours aren't nice.
cozietoesie · 29/05/2018 23:49

I wouldn't introduce a Siamese into a house with an existing cat.

I'm biased though.

(Why is she in a rescue?)

cozietoesie · 30/05/2018 01:23

Unless it was TCN's house of course. Siamese - especially seal points (which she seems to be) - are blisteringly intelligent. Any Siamese going into TCN's house - in fact any cat - would likely just think 'Sheez' and adopt a low profile while they worked things out.........Grin

greenlanes · 30/05/2018 02:11

Uuumm. So the human slave has never been privileged to live with a Siamese before? They were gods you know in the olden days (look up the worship of Egyptian cats).

They are loud, demanding, dominating. Utterly selfish and intelligent enough to get what they want. Always want to be involved in anything, and I mean anything, that you are doing.

Be advised that once you have been the proud parent of a Siamese no other cat breed will do.

My rescue Siamese is utterly manky but he is totally part of our family!

cozietoesie · 30/05/2018 02:25

I remember Twoago falling into the bath - with me in it. (He was a strongly bonded boy and I was in there - so he tried to get as close as he could. And slipped.)

That was a fun 5 minutes. Grin

VioletPickles · 30/05/2018 02:32

All of the above, and then some. More is sooo loud! Constantly needs cuddled preferably round my neck. She's a wee gem though, very clever indeed. When family love her. For. Some reason I can't see the pic but I'm sure she's gorgeous

cozietoesie · 30/05/2018 02:38

Real chocolate box stuff, Violet. A young seal point. Smile

yeahforsummer · 30/05/2018 03:49

Ours is very regal and attractive still at 14 years. He is very noisy, very intolerant of humans not following his will and very bossy with our young bouncy dog. While he will bite adults he perceives to be out of line he has shown huge tolerance of dc. His noggin gets in everything. I would never have another type of cat.
