Cat attacking my cat

Hi, my little girl cat was bitten badly by another cat last week and after hiding for 18 hours in pain and becoming more and more unwell with the infection setting in she thankfully finally came home. She needed an inpatient stay at the vets Sad

The vet told me to keep her inside for 3 days afterwards while finishing her antibiotics and painkillers/anti inflammatories which I did.
I have let her out to get some fresh air in the garden since yesterday afternoon.
She just pops out for a few minutes then comes back in.

This morning she has been let out and within 5 minutes the same cat has attacked her again! I don't know how bad the damage is as she is now hiding somewhere outside again and I can't find her Sad I want to cry, my poor little girl!

How do I stop this cat from coming in our garden and attacking my cat? I don't want her not to be able to go out but that's looking increasingly likely to have to happen at this rate Angry

Would you be able to cat-proof your garden?

Poor little soul, how frightening, this happened with our cat and she was so friendly. Is your kitty spayed, do you know which cat has been attacking her. Would you be able to sit with her in the garden, put a rug down and wait till she comes over to you, water pistol the other cat. Go out and call her name, she will come home.

I have looked into cat proofing the garden, would have preferred not to have to as most of the neighbours cats pop in and out too and they all get on really well usually!
This is a new cat I'm not sure who it belongs to but I've spoken to the neighbours and they have had issues with this particular cat too and their cats are stressed because of it.

She has finally come home I can't see any obvious signs of injury and she has stayed curled up next to me since she's been in. Thankfully she seems ok this time!

Think I might have to try the water spray for this cat Confused I feel a bit mean but I can't have him attacking her every time she ventures outside.

Water pistol, every single time. I feel terrible doing it, but when we moved to a new neighbourhood this local cat was hellbent on fighting one of my cats (in our garden). I have a Nerf Supersoaker with an impressive range, and I use it every time I see Local Cat in our garden. I do not wait for him to attack, the water is to make him understand that he is not welcome on our territory. He doesn't need to cross it to get to his own turf, he lives on another street entirely. It's taken a few months, but we've had no more fights. I hope your poor little girl is feeling better soon.

BTW, all my cats are spayed/neutered, but Local Cat isn't. Do you know if that's the case with your girl's tormentor? Could be worth having a chat with its owners, especially if neighbours are having problems too.

I recently had weeks and weeks of cats too scared to go out because of new cat next door. They were toileting indoors and sitting at the door but not going out.

Two vets advised Feliway plug in to calm my cats and their behaviour changed within 20 mins of it being plugged in and they advised a water pistol.

Stay vigilant and squirt near/next to the other cat as soon as you see it. I needed to do this just four times across 4 days and it really works!! He keeps his distance and, all bar one cat, is back to normal.

If owner sees you can truthfully say it's the only deterrent vets recommended and isn't cruel .

I'm so happy she is home, maybe the new cat is marking out it's territory, well trying to anyway, we used to growl at the bully cat, it did give up picking on all the others after a few squirts from the water pistol. I'd accompany your kitty on her visits to the garden for a while, new cat won't attack if you are there.

Right I've just ordered a water pistol Grin will try growling too although I don't think that will work, he didn't even run away when I ran out there earlier to save my little girl, he just stood and stared at me. He's got a seriously bad attitude!

We had the same issue with a cat that moved into the neighbourhood, water pistol didn't work, hissing chasing him nothing worked. One day our lovely boy came home limping bleeding with a claw stuck close to his eye. We moved shortly after thank goodness and catproofed our garden with Katzecure cats can't get out and cats can't get in, ours are now outside all the time and love it. The one who was always attacked has become like his old self again. Are you able to catproof?

outnumbered4 · 25/05/2018 23:01

One of my other cats was attacked this evening too. I ran outside when I heard her scream and sure enough, the same cat scuttled away!

I'm getting really fed up now. She has cuts on her face and both her ears are bleeding I can't tell if it's scratches or bites.

I'm going to have to look into catproofing the garden Sad
