Is this normal??

Good evening☕️

I'm posting about a friends cat. Same age as my kitty (7 months) but she is very very aggressive when you try petting her. She will sit next to you within reason and be happy to wonder, but the minute you try pick her up or give her a stroke she hisses, claws and goes absolutely mad!

I only questions this because my narla is so placid. I can have cuddles and kisses and lots of strokes and she doesn't mind in the slightest (loves belly rubs) but my friends cat hates it! She hasn't had any past trauma or bad experiences.

Is this normal in some cats?

I dint think there's any normal with cats, they're all enigmatic. One cat I had from kittenhood was very unfriendly, scratching, biting, even stuck her claws into my head once when I picked her up for a cuddle. She had a wonderful life with me and my other 2 cats, but I think she was a little off kilter. She adored one of my other cats who was an absolute sweetheart, so at least she had him to turn to and I'm happy for that.

Ok ☺️ thank you, maybe she has a very angry cat lol

Your friend should just leave her be for now, and not force any petting on her. Mog should come around on her own terms with lots of play and toys.

Yes this is what I said @mimibunz just leave her to be

I'm a touchy feely person. my DSiS is quite the opposite. Surprisingly she's the one who had 4 DC!

All cats are different, some like cuddles & some don't. Boycat likes very little more than lying next to me having scritches & tummy rubs, but hates being picked up & gets away as soon as he can if i do.
