I'm too upset to write much soI'll be brief.
My beautiful 7 year old tabby has recently lost a lot of weight. Vet today said he could feel a tumour.
Choices are palliative and let her fade away or referral to a hospital with the chance of chemo.
Has anyones cat actually got better with chemo?
I'm five months pregnant and an emotional wreck anyway, my heart is breaking - she is such a lovely, sweet little girl.xx

So sorry to read your sad news. Thanks
What does the vet recommend? I think for me it would depend how gruelling the chemo would be, and how good a chance of recovery there is at the end of it.

The vet left the ball in our court really - they dont know if it spread or not. i just wanted to know if anyone had any experience of cats surviving and thriving chemo?

My cat was diagnosed with nasal cancer on his 17th birthday.

16 months later he is still with us.

We decided to give the chemo a go as we felt we had nothing to lose as he was very poorly and not eating. We knew within a few days that the chemo was having some impact. After 3 sessions the difference was remarkable. He continued to have chemo on and off for just over a year.

Unfortunately the chemo has now stopped working and we have decided to stop. He is still doing well and his quality of life is still better than it was when he was first diagnosed but the symptoms are slowly returning.

I have absolutely no regrets about doing it though. He had no side effects. He even kept his whiskers that they can sometimes lose!

Chemo isn’t cheap though. It cost approximately £400 a go. Is it possible to get a ct scan to see if it has spread. This may help with your decision. Our oncolgist at the referral centre has been amazing throughout. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Good luck.
