We have an indoor cat, very friendly cat too

We also have a 1 year old and planning to get a nanny as childminder is not really working out for him

My worry is that when the cat poos, it's so smelly and you really don't want to sit in the flat with that smell! But I guess its not really the nanny's job to clean up after the cat poo Blush

What do people do? Do you ask your nanny to poop scoop and include it as part of their responsibility? Is that a reasonable ask?

You could try a covered litter tray, and/or changing the litter type? DBro & SiL have a covered tray & you can't smell their cats poos, and I use wood pellet litter and that covers the smell within a few minutes. And one of mine sometimes does VERY stinky poos Envy (not envy)

Try and find a nanny who also has a passion for cats.

We have a dog and have always tried to find nannies who love dogs. We don't ask our nanny to do things like walk or feed the dog but it makes it feel like less of an imposition on the nanny if they know what to expect from a dog being around and they are generally positive about dogs and interested in them. It's better for the dog too, having someone there who will engage with them rather than just ignore them.

It's worked very well for us. Nannies and families are compatible/incompatible in ways that go beyond child care arrangements. Pets is a great example.

I'm going to have to contradict a PP, I've two covered trays and use the good quality wood pellets and the poos still stink, blegh. Although I've three cats and one is by far worse than the others (they all go outside too). I'd maybe float the idea with the nanny that, for their own benefit, they most likely will encounter some poos along the way. Or, just add into your advert "must be a cat person"
