Best food for kidney disease

Can anyone recommend a cat renal food that your cat will actually eat? My 18 year old has just been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease, she also has hyperthyroidism. I had a cat with kidney disease about five years ago and found it hard to get him to eat the special food, it was pretty unpalatable. My Vet says they have improved since then. Which are the best ones to try? My cat prefers wet food, or even better, chicken freshly roasted from the oven so I'm pretty sure she's not going to be impressed with the change.

Mine wouldn’t eat Hills or Royal Canin renal food so his vet prescribed him something to put in his normal food. He wouldn’t eat the first couple of meds but he now has Ipakitine morning and evening and takes it without any problems.

Ah yes the vet mentioned that. Might be an option if she won't eat the renal food.

Mine actually jumped backwards after sniffing the renal food! He is extremely fussy though and we knew we were fighting a losing battle - even the vet calls him particular!

Good luck, I hope you have better luck than we did!

Iv not tried all the flavours but out of all the brands this has been the most successful.

The chicken pouches is the one she tends to be best with.

They do a dry version that Iv had some success with too.
