I dont like it my girls have always been silent sisters! Everytime i sit done she cones bounding up amd meows so loud the walls nearly shake. She also does it when im in bed. It used to be a gentle tap on the face now it sounds like shes shputing through a mega phone. Shes not a lap cat but does qt least let me stroke her. Is she in pain?

On another note ive noticed great big clumps of her on her belly and near her bum can they be painful? If i cat her ill cut them off but im scared my scissors are so big. I groom her every other day is there a special trick to brushing their bellies? Shes a very long haired cat.

Shes just got into her bed thank god i might get some peace to get my work done

How long have you had her? Mine didn't start finding their voice until they'd been With me a few months. One of them would do silent meows but now quacks at me.

For the matts use thinning scissors instead of normal ones. Or just get a vet nurse to do it.

She was one last month on her first birthday she actually came and sat next to me and she now let’s me pick her up it’s taken ages and I don’t think she was from a traumatic background. Anyway they’ve both just been deflead which seems to knock them out. Is that normal?

Is she asserting her dominance over Daphne?

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/04/2018 14:45

It means she wants something and you're being slow on the uptakeSmile
Mats can get out of hand very quickly. You need to groom a long haired cat more than once a month week if possible.
It's moulting season at the moment too, so it's coming off fast. I keep finding little dreadlocks on my boy and he has a daily brush.
If they are only little mats you can usually pull them apart with your fingers and loose hair will come away.
Bigger ones need removing. They can tear the skin if they get really bad.

Sorry just seen every other day for grooming, don't know where I got weekly from!
Mine just rolls over on his back to get the underneath done. Old girl I had to scruff and hold in place while trying to avoid the brush hand being attacked.

I have short scissors for cutting off Matts that I can't pick apart. I also have a variety of brushes and a little matt splitter. For brushing the tummy I tend to use one hand under the front legs to lift up the front of the body so they are in a standing position and then use the other hand for brushing the tummy.

Mine miaow when they want out (and sometimes for no reason!). They make little chirping/parping noises to talk to us too

EachandEveryone · 10/04/2018 16:53

I feel sorry for Daphne as the young one does take over any games and Daph doesnt even bother going for the dreamies anymore because that little one is sweetie mad like a child. Having said that i do feel abit sorry for her shes not confident with humans so gets overlooked by visitors. Even now shes asleep on the communal landing outside the flat. Is that alright being anti social like that?

My boy cat used to be silent and now honks like a goose all the time.
There’s nothing wrong with him he’s just after some love, or food, or for us to look at him and ‘ooooooh’ as he rolls on the floor, or to groom him, or for us to turn the sink tap on, or even just to honk back.

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/04/2018 17:56

Awww, poor Daphne, I'd shut the young one in and sit on the landing with her for 10 minutes for some private strokes and Dreamies!
Cats do have a solitary and anti- social reputation.
Some are and some aren't in my experience. Has she always been like it?

EachandEveryone · 10/04/2018 18:18

I’ve gently picked her up in her sleep and put her next to me do they are both asleep now in the living room. They are complete opposites but do love each other.

Are sweets aloud even my vet said no but it’s the only way I can get the little one in.

'Howling' in old cats can be a sign of deafness.

AornisHades · 11/04/2018 13:41

Have they been spayed?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/04/2018 13:43

I also think you and Daph need some 'alone time' and 'treat time'. The little one is definitely the dominant personality.
