My poor cat has pood himself on the way back from the vets, and he has got it on his belly, down the back of his legs and a bit on this tail. I’ve tried wiping as best as a I can with a wet cloth, but his fur is still yellow in most parts. I think it needs more than just water to clean it.

I don’t have any baby wipes, only Johnsons make up wipes. Or do I need to bathe him? (only have a shower cubicle and he’s very wriggly).

I’ve let him clean himself for a bit but he’s not getting everything.

Probably best to let him clean himself up in his own time, a lot of products for humans are toxic to cats so maybe don't use the wipes, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks, I’ve found some thin cloths that are easier to get in between his toes and stuff.

The majority of the actual poo is off but his fur is still yellow, like it’s dried into it. Do you think he’ll get this off himself or will it need trimming/cleaning off?

I tried to bath a cat once, scratch my arms awful, had turps on her. What about wrapping top half in a towel, a tip from our cattery lady.

*top half in a towel to try and bath. Good luck.

No help now, but for future use you can buy cat wipes. One of mine will poo every time he goes in his carrier, and they're very useful.

Can you use the kitchen sink? Smaller space so easier to keep him in one place?

Thanks everyone. He’s gone to sleep now, so I’ll see what he’s like when he wakes up and try and clean him properly if he needs to.
DH is at work so might send him looking for cat wipes when he’s finished.

I feel so sorry for him, he’s never done this before and it was quite loose which is very unusual for him so he must have felt so stressed.

Our cat did it once, we were travelling on the bus too Envy

You could use the water baby wipes, but I wouldn't use anything with lotion or fragrance.
I have had to wash cats occasionally in an emergency.
If you go down that route, do it in the bath with a tepid shower. Scruff the cat and allow to "dangle" as this helps stop squirming. Two person job.
