Hi does anyone else's Cat throw up a lot? Ours does it a couple of times a week around 10 mins post feed. Better since we ditched wet food. He eats and enjoys Purina One Chicken.
Otherwise pretty chipper. Is this normal?

Is it able to access any other food, such as lick the dirty plates etc. Our cat used to puke a lot and we narrowed it down to it eating anything with garlic in or curry which unfortunately are it's favourite foods so we now have e a plates straight in the dishwasher not left on the side rule.

My Bengal used to throw up all the time - the previous owners had had him checked out by the vet and no signs of anything odd, he was built like a brick shithouse so obviously didn’t suffer for it! (In fact he used to go into neighbours houses and steal their cat food pouches too Grin )

Like yours, he was better on dry food.

I suppose none of us can know, if he seems ill at all then obviously get him checked out, but if he’s eating ok the rest of the time and well I’m himself, maybe he’s just eating too fast?!

He does have the same dish....which I ought to wash more frequently! But we empty old food out, he's always got fresh. He's not a licker at all. It is always after feeding. Then he lets it settle for 10 mins, appetite returns and he feeds again. Normally no second bout of puking.

We moved 200m from our old house last year....he CANNOT give up his old patch. So he's commuting to our new house daily in the late PM stops with us until 10:30PM (we have an out house - heated with food) then sometime in the early hours we know he commutes back 200M to the old patch. Point is, there's a long gap between midnight and around 4-5pm on feeding..,could it be that?

He also scoots a lot. We've eliminated worms with a broad spectrum Profender wormer....but still scooting. Related or not do you reckon? As I say, v chipper - nice fur, weight etc.

Yeah maybe he’s getting so hungry that he bolts it down and then throws it up. Or could he be getting food elsewhere?

womaninatightspot · 06/04/2018 19:18

My cat does that (also eats purina one chicken!) Normally the vomit has bits of dead mouse/ vole in it if you poke around. I think ours hunts and eats which makes him feel sick. Hoofs down some regular cat food, barfs feels better ten minutes later and eats again.

Mine does but it's because she's a pig! She sometimes guzzles her food really quickly without chewing (she has dry too) and about 10 minutes later it comes back up still looking like it did when I put it in her bowl! I put smaller portions in her bowl, a couple of times a day and that seems to have sorted the problem.

Tinkobell · 07/04/2018 09:19

Mmmm. A common and revolting problem it seems! We get three thumping heaves before it hits the deck. I've yet to master the skill of actually catching it in the napkin before it lands. It's the way he trots off looking so detached afterwards 😂
Think I might try the more staged small portion feed. He's doing well on the senior purina one - In fine fettle!

My girl vomits a lot. Always has. She's 15 now, but she's been the same since she was a kitten. Wet food or dry food, it makes no difference. Bolting her food is definitely partly the cause, so we feed her little and often. It helps, but it still happens at least twice a week. And always on the carpet, never the hard floorsHmm. We've had her checked over by the vet periodically, but she's fine. Just one of those things.

My boy is the same only thing that doesn't make him sick so far is purina dry biscuits.

HardAsSnails · 09/04/2018 16:20

Mine has always been a puker, eats too much and throws up. He started doing it more recently and is better on mainly wet food with a small amount of grain-free biscuits in a slow feeding dish. No puking at all now.
