One of mine hunts art and crafts paraphernalia from the neighbourhood. There are some dc in the area missing parts of projects I think :s

Toby once bought home a plant pot (goodness knows how he could see to make his way home) and some sandwiches in a sandwich bag!

A huge magpie. It was bigger than him and seemingly wider than the catflap. The magpie was unhurt, although a bit surprised.

Mine went through a phase of bringing home apples which was a pleasant change from baby birds.

My cat is Theo the cat burglar... he's been in the news for his thieving badness. Most obscure item? A nativity costume.

longtompot · 05/04/2018 21:39

A łive pigeon and two dead squirrels!

dinksandbinks · 05/04/2018 21:42

My first cat was a well known thief. And mass murderer.

Inanimate things she brought home: lots of dishcloths (stinkier the better), sponges (ditto), some giant y-fronts Blush thankfully clean!

Living things: TWO enormous wood pigeons. Not even sure how she fitted one through the cat flap, let alone too. Both alive!

A little blue budgie, obviously pilfered from someone’s house. Never did find the owner, but it survived and retired to live with the old man across the road.

She was an awesome cat!

My neighbour regularly has to return my bra to me as ‘Pervy Percy’ has taken a shine to them and takes them off the washing line.
When my bra isn’t available he takes the baby’s vests.

A nativity costume Rachy that’s hilarious!!! Which part? Was there a crown?

samlovesdilys · 05/04/2018 21:45

Splodge is past such things now...but once came home with a piece of buttered toast STILL WARM!!! Less delightful was the time she brought a frog home...

Mine both bring in twigs and leaves daily. They won't even kill spiders.

positivepineapple · 05/04/2018 22:21

This thread is brilliant!!!

I've had lots of rotten apples and a cat toy which definitely didn't belong to us.

A friend had a tiny cat who brought home an eel! And it was still alive!!

TeaandHobnobs · 05/04/2018 22:29

I had a cat a few years back who used to catch and bring home stag beetles.

Current cat likes to bring home single feathers. No birds were harmed in the obtaining of these feathers - he just finds them, picks them up and brings them home to play with. A sort of DIY toy.

The cats we had when I was a child once brought home a (live) woodpecker. That gave my dad a shock one morning, when he found it tap tap tapping on the inside of the window!

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/04/2018 23:19

Mine just brings home livestock, unfortunately. In various stages of expiration.

C0untDucku1a · 05/04/2018 23:24

Omg cats are awesome.

Weirdest thing mine brought home was an egg.

Myusernameisunique · 05/04/2018 23:39

A paintbrush.
One of my next door neighbours baby rabbits ConfusedShockBlush.
The other one has a field mouse outreach programme on the go. She catches them, brings them into my lovely warm house and lets them set up home under my kitchen sink. She's too kind that way Angry.

My parents have had live and bemused cock pheasants bought through the cat flap. He was a farm cat by birth and a hunter through and through. Bought his first rat home when a kitten of just a few weeks.
Nobody knows how he caught the pheasant, carried it up the garden and then carried it through the cat flap.
My dad caught it and returned it to the wild. The cat was reported to find them v ungrateful.

One of ours escorted a live and walking wood pigeon through the cat hole in the gate and into the yard. When we took it back out it flew away.
