Car loving cat help

So, my cat loves cars, she tries to get in them at every opportunity, I've got to the supermarket, school runs etc before I've realised she's snuck in.
I'm very concerned she's going to sneak into a delivery drivers car or a visiting car and end up lost - she is chipped but it's still a worry.
Would we look like a total crazy house if I put a sign up on my fence warning people about this? Or any other advice.... please!!

A sign might look a bit odd, but I think I'd do it anyway! Can you stop her getting to the road? Cat proof the garden for example?

Nowt wrong in being odd Grin!

I probably would too

That's...a difficult one. Have you had her since she was a kitten? If so there's less danger.

Does she just wait in the car whilst you do your duties?

No harm in putting a sign up though.

You could keep her in whilst you go out as well to disassociate it as well.

Thanks for the replies, she's still quite young and has only been going out for a c month or two. DH thinks it'll make us seem too odd to put up a sign..! She just loves the car, when I realise she's in it I have to drive her back home, I can't leave her in the car while I'm in the supermarket my alarm would go off and it would be cruel to leave her in their.

I can't stop her getting near cars, we're on a quiet residential road and she goes out the front, no option to change that.
I don't know what to do, I can't help thinking we're going to lose her :(

Oh I meant keep her inside the house when you go out to drive :)

Tricky, but loads of people have signs up like no cold callers/support labour/beware of the dog etc so it wouldn't be really 'odd'.

Should she be kept in a little bit longer and only have supervised trips outside?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/03/2018 20:25

Has the car been used for many nasty vet trips yet? Negative association and all that ...

follybodger · 29/03/2018 20:28

I'd be tempted to put a GPS collar on the cat. Won't stop her getting in a car but might help you get her back.
