Horace the bengal beast

So my lovely dcat came home yesterday from his normal morning routine walk with a wound covering his whole tummy. Straight to the vets lots of stiches later we pick him up all good. Vet remarks he needs to stay in for 2 weeks or till the wound heals, look of horror from me! Well any other bengal owners will know this is going to be a long 2 weeks. You see horace rules this house completely! She says don't let him jump! O okay let's see how that works. She says don't worry he is in a 'baby grow' 'impossible' to get out of you don't need a cone of shame.

So after spending all night trying to settle him, finally think he is asleep at 5 this morning off to bed I go. I hear rustling at 7 go downstairs to see horace had managed to undo the poppers and escape from the baby grow! This is going to be a fun 2 weeks.

Awww he looks so sweet!

ScreamingValenta · 10/03/2018 10:06

Aww! I hope he heals up soon, OP. As soon as I read 'impossible to get out of' and 'bengal' I felt sceptical Grin.

peppapignonstop · 10/03/2018 10:13

He is very vocal about wanting to go out.... my poor neighbours!
I went back to the vet first thing, she has given me a cone, he is not going to be happy.

But look at him, butter wouldn't melt! How can something so innocent looking possibly cause trouble.....HmmGrin

Vinorosso74 · 10/03/2018 10:20

He's a handsome lad but he does not look impressed! He would lose all street cred if the other cats saw him in the babygro.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/03/2018 12:38

How did he get the wound?.

Can you stitch him in the baby grow?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/03/2018 12:51

That face! What did I do to deserve this punishment?

VenusRising · 10/03/2018 13:05

Wow, his face! He’s very cute.

I’m very surprised you let him out at all.... maybe you need to build a complete climbing system for him all over your house, and keep him indoors.

My understanding with a contract with a breeder was they had to be indoors cats, especially bengals who are very ferocious murderers of wildlife.

In Australia, for eg it’s illegal to let a bengal breed cat roam free, as they kill so many wild birds and mammals.

Hope he’s better soon and doesn’t tear out his stitches.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/03/2018 13:14

I couldn’t keep mine in, he’d have constant urine infections and that’s no life.

His hunting technique is, err, optimistic 😹. The white chinchilla had more success despite a collar with a bell.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 10/03/2018 13:14

He looks like he's plotting your long slow painful death

peppapignonstop · 10/03/2018 13:17

Fluffy the vet couldn't say, they don't think it was fighting.

Venus he is soft as shit, I would never keep him in the house he would go crazy staying in, has lots of energy. My breeder does not stipulate in the contract about them staying in. As far as I know he is not causing distruction to the local wildlife. Once he is healed if he chooses he will be going out again.

Is it an actual babygrow?

My cat is in a cone at the moment and fed up with it. Wondering if I can pop him in a babygrow!

reallyanotherone · 10/03/2018 13:35

I had a bengal for 17 years. He wasn’t capable of killing anything. We had a blackbird nest in the garden and occasionally a fledgeling would fall out- he’d sit and look at it in an utterly confused manner until i came and put it back. He never caught anything live in his life. He was once extremely proud of himself for hunting down and bringing home a hat.

I don’t envy you at all o/p. There’s no way i could keep mine in. Even if he didn’t want to go out, if he thought he couldn’t ( if i locked the cat flap), there was hell on.

RandomMess · 10/03/2018 13:39

Try stitching the baby grow on???

peppapignonstop · 10/03/2018 13:45

Ziggy yes kind of its a special one from the vets they do them for dogs as well.

He is currently hiding under a wardrobe feeling very sorry for himself.

I've got two part Bengal boys about 8 months , they are shockingly clever . Their problem solving skills are amazing . I'm not surprised he got out of that thing ... 😬😬( unhelpful)

NC4Now · 10/03/2018 13:49

Oh Horace 🙈

Will he keep his cone on? My Ozzy bust out of his in no time.
