Cat weeing in house! help

Our boy cat (one of 3 - with his sister and mum) who is 5 years old and we've had him from 3 months and through 1 house move before, but now he has started weeing in our new house.

We moved in December and they seemed to settle in fine. It took us a couple of weeks to get a cat flap fitted but we've had no issues until this last week.
We went on holiday for half term week (a couple of weeks ago) and since then he's wee'd 3 times on my son's bed, its becoming more frequent. He wee'd on my bath mat (whilst I was in shower) a couple of weekends ago (first weekend home), then on my son's bed (whilst my son was waking up!) this weekend then wee'd on it again yesterday and snuck in today (after we'd kept room closed all day) and wee'd on his pillow.

I think its because a cat came into the house whilst we were away. My son's room is at the top of house on 2nd floor. We've not had the issue before because we were in a village but now we are on a housing estate and I think there is more 'challenge' outside.

At the weekend we changed the cat flap for a micro chip one so only our cats can use it. We moved the bowls to another room - away from cat flap and so they can feed with their backs to the wall. And I've got some feliway plugged in and we use the spray from pets at home for cleaning thats meant to stop them soiling in the same place twice...

Could it be something else?? is there anything else we can do to stop him? If it doesn't get better by Monday we'll go to vet to rule out anything else but currently I'm fed up of washing bedding!

First of all you need to rule out a medical problem such as a bladder infection. Although if he's doing big wees rather than small dribbles then that's less likely.

You will also need to provide a couple of litter trays - at least in the short term. He obviously doesn't want to wee outside, for whatever reason, so you have to give him a tray or two.

Thank you

These are massive wee's - just putting out litter tray now, should we put it in kitchen or in room he is weeing in? would rather not encourage him to wee upstairs at all. Only have one tray at moment so will have to borrow another..

Well try in the kitchen for now and see how it goes. This may all just resolve itself with all the other measures you've taken.

And for now make sure to keep him out of your son's room so that that habit gets broken.

Also has this coincided with the particularly bad weather/snow? That is often a factor in cats not wanting to go outside.

Two of my cats did this and with one it turned out to be a urine infection. The other was behavioural because we started getting lots of cats in our garden so she would always wee by the back door. She would also wee in the house just after we had strangers in the house! She also once wee'd on dh whilst he was asleep which I found hilarious. I would definitely rule out any type of medical problem with the vet. The fact that you had cats in your house whilst you were away probably has a bit to do with it aswell. He's marking all over your house. You can get a calming spray from pet shops called pet remedy, that might help.

It’s behavioural, been to vets and all ok but 3 wees ony sons bed this week Angry
I’ve bought some odour cleaning spray from pets at home to properly clean the bedding (currently on a 90 deg wash) dh wants to get duvet dry cleaned as he’s not convinced our washing machine is cleaning it properly..
I’m at a loss how to retrain him...
